Draw is tonight at 6pm to see who we'll play in the 4th round of the US Open Cup. To me, we'll likely be grouped against MN United/St. Louis FC. The other option to me is we get grouped with the OKC/Tulsa winner because apparently you CAN be drawn to play your affiliate, you just can't be draw to play your "2" team.
I'm guessing St. Louis/MN United as well. It's possible Chicago gets that group. I'm guessing FC Dallas gets the OKC/Tulsa group and Houston gets the SAS/Austin pair. Either way, someone is going to get stuck with a matchup with 2 teams from farther east than makes "sense" because there are more teams out there that need pairs than out west. I think the West will get the MLS vs MLS mathcup as well to help compensate for this. Right now, I have our 1st MLS matchup possible vs Colorado Rapids and then a Texas MLS team in the round after that (in the round I'd label the Western Open Cup Semi's) ... and then a Western Open Cup Finals (Open Cup Semi's) vs a West Coast team. Yeah ... I'm a dork with a spreadsheet and a desire for this to get a little more mainstream! I think I had 3 of the 3rd round matchups wrong and they were just swapped out with different options (when matching up a NE USL team vs a Florida NASL team I swapped a couple). They have been doing about as good as they can with the matchups (geographically speaking). To me ... there is no reason they couldn't have drawn up the complete bracket when it all started and said (if a MLS 2 squad advances to meet up with their MLS squad prior to the Final we can adjust at accordingly). I think I have it to where they wouldn't meet until the Round of 8 before an adjustment would need to be mad (making it unlikely anyways).
I'll bet the OnGoal guys are licking their chops at a StL game. Good pub, better gate, and a freebie one-off chance to appeal to the local non soccer sports fan. Personally, I'm having a little difficulty tempering myself until the 16th. I'll b very disappointed if Minnesota advances tomorrow. I hate StL. I'm not afraid to be an Internet tough guy about it either.
yep, although MN has a big game this weekend coming up against the Cosmos, while STL is playing their 3rd of 4 games in like 11 days.
Its almost time to go off on what a absurd and conceded symbol the arch really is. C'mon - "Gateway to the West" or "Winning the West", either way, what a moronic white-mans' notion that whole thing is. Unbeknownst to St. L, standing on one's shoulders, does not make you tall.
I don't really hate the city itself. I'm a Cards fan (please don't ban me). With that said, I hope we crush them. Also, Pappy's Smokehouse is the worst BBQ restaurant I've ever visited. No smoke ring and it was like chewing on rubber. I honestly wonder if the brisket was baked and not smoked, but it was offensive.
The wild west started on the west side of Kansas City. St. Louis was the gateway to Kansas City. That is all.
I admit a bit of disappointment that we don't get a shot at the MLS Mathcup. But St Louis is good too. Seriously it reminds me why I want them to have an MLS club. It's more fun playing than mocking them.
Seems like that kind of luck holds for Sporting all the time. Pretty sure the last away match they played was 2012.
