So, yeah, our player chants are lacking. It's turned into the "Let's go Royals" for just about every player. And I think other people have noticed, as evidenced by all the suggestions on the past few pages.

I still wanna do this one for Saad:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j80w4d9U2Fs&feature=player_detailpage#t=146s"]A Tribe called quest - Oh my god - YouTube[/ame]

"Oh my god, it's Soony Saad! Soony Saad! Yes, Soony Saad!"

    something like that.

and there's a billion songs with "DJ" in the chorus that we could use for CJ.

I love hipster throwback bullshit, but sometimes it tries to be to clever. keep it simple.

    hi-
as someone fairly new to the cauldron and already tired of the same 6-10 carboncopy soccer chants, I was digging, digging way deep...to see what has came up on this topic. ALOT I liked, but for real...the tings tings(that's not my name) Have literally had this song stuck in my head for weeks before
    Were not Real
    Were not AC
    Were not United
    Were not FC
    Thats not our name
    thats not our name
    thats not our name
    thats not our name
    We called The Wiz
    we're called the Wizards
    We're called Sporting KC
    Its all the same
    And thats our name
    And thats our name
    And thats our name
    And thats our name.....

the millwall no one likes it.. one is great..
shit I even laughed at the destiny child one WHATS ARE NAME WHATS ARE NAME one.
it works...CATCHY and EASY is the name of the game to try and get numbers going. FUNNY AS ALL HELL MAKES IT EVEN BETTER.

Can't wait to sit down in the offseason this winter and offer some ideas.
I know this isn't Italy but....who doesnt wanna belt out some Sporting Lyrics to this..

    I like this.

It didn't resonate with me the first time I saw this post, but now that I look at it again and picture how it would sound, I think it would be really fun and a great, unique chant.

I say it every time, I want this one more than any other song. But it always falls on deaf ears and we do We Love Ya a bunch of times instead. I understand to keep it simple, but the new people this year have learned all the chants by now, we gotta keep it fresh.

on that track, starting at about 1:30 a chorus starts up with a crowd singing that sounds a bit like us ( read: drunk and a bit off pitch). I thought it helped put the song into the perspective of a large group of mostly men singing it. it's worth listening to.

Yes because it's as simple as making a post here then magically hearing a ballad from the early 40's at the stadium...

We do We Love Ya just to spite your sensibilities. Tell ya what, you come down to the front on Wednesday (if you're going) or Saturday and get it started. I'll be your backup.

And just to reiterate... it is a good song. It's fitting. It's doable. I like it a lot. Still there are lots of hurdles in between that and making it actually happen. Unless it's simple either in tune or in words, games aren't the time to experiment with a song that really no one knows. People yell at me for that too. I bet none of you could get the tune right and words right 100% in game at this point. Even something simple like Carefree took 50 people getting together to rehearse it to have enough critical mass to make it happen in a game. How many people can sing the bbq song perfectly? I've been trying to spread that for months, Christian put up a video w/words, but I'm guessing less than 5 people can sing it perfectly right now.

Songs, the website, and a better tailgate setup with tents etc are my priorities for the offseason.

This sounds like an end of game anthem to me. I'm not too sure it'd be fitting at any other time.

    We'll meet again
    Don't know where
    Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
    Some sunny day

    Keep smiling through
    Just like you always do
    'Till the blue skies
Drive the dark clouds far away

So, will you please say hello
To the folks that I know
Tell them I won't be long
    They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
    I was singing this song

    We'll meet again
    Don't know where
    Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
    Some sunny day

at first...with just the woman singing I couldn't really hear it...and then when the group of guys came in..slightly..its somewhat long and would be hard for anyone that didnt know the song to jump in...but yes...beautiful flow and good for the end of a match

Kinda reminds me of West Ham United's use of "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles". It's an old, obscure tune that the vast majority of those in attendance haven't heard, but it could very easily be a trademark. I like it.

An old tune, yes; obscure, no. It was for WWII what "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again" was to the Civil War. That one might not be bad either. It's a better tune, but the lyrics would have to be changed.

"When Myers Goes Marching Down the Wing" could work, not very original but could sound cool.

"can't take my eyes off of you" a frankie valli hit. My version has some liberites taken with it for simplicity sake. A stanza of the verse is removed. It looks long but it really isn't. Its one of those slow building ones that are seeming to have alot of success as of late, and really sounds good on TV.

    (sung slowly)
you're just to good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
it's like heaven when you score
I want to see it some more
your just too good to be true
can't take my eyes off of you

(drums and clapping come in building pace)
    da duh
    da duh
    da duh da da daduh

    da duh
    da duh
    da duh da da daduh

    da duh
    da duh
    da duh da da daduh

    da duh
    da duh
    da duh da da daaaaaa

    (at full speed)
    I love you KC
and if you score to night
    I'll love you KC
you keep me warm at night
    I love you KC
trust in me when I say

    I love you KC
and if you score to night
    I'll love you KC
you keep me warm at night
    I love you KC
trust in me when I say

    (repeat)

so, when do we stop talking about all these new songs and start singing them?

edit: that was rash of me. maybe next season. but i'm just really eager to make some SKC originals so we just don't sound like every other supporters section in the mls. :/

well...considering our last home match is..four days? I'm going to go ahead and say working on them on the offseason is the best bet. maybe collect a shitload ...vote on them...have some get togethers?

I like "cant take my eyes off of you" wondering if that could be turned into a LSP song?? It would be nice to have a song about our beautiful one of a kind park.

how many clubs in MLS sing "I cant help, falling in love with you" ??

We used to do this for Davy Arnoud: "We love you, Davy! and if you score tonight... etc." It sounded great even though not everyone would sing it, and it went over well the player in question too! I remember he smiled and waved the first time he heard it.

I thought only Portland did it. Maybe they are the only ones who do it well. Are there others?

All of these are going to take a captive audience for at least a couple hours to get down. Maybe a playoff road trip could be the trick, but yes, probably offseason. We've been talking about how we can get together regularly in the offseason and have a few parties where we can make some progress.

The new ones in the parking lot more likely, but yeah, we did plenty of songs from our seats when I was there. Fans ate it up with a spoon.
