Is it a done deal then? Or are we still assuming?

No it's not been officially announced. But at this point even national media is starting to pick up on it.

That's what I assumed, but then Robb was sounding very hedgy about it all last week. Can't seem to vote in the poll, though.

Robb likes to come off hedgy when things aren't announced "officially". Like before the name change.

Well, clearly it's going to fit in with the color scheme and overall layout of the new kits more than the mockups. In all, it should work great. Really looking forward to see this new unveiling, even though I certainly won't get a new jersey... have one already.

My biggest wish if we do have a sponsor is that they are willing to change the logo colors some to better incorporate with the jersey.
This looks much better to me with the indigo instead of black.

If so, it looks like another feather in the FO's cap.

I think it's solid. I'm glad it's local and the logo isn't terrible. Most of all: yay for free money.

    Me too.

The leaf looks odd opposite the badge. They look like polka dots next to eachother.

This. Money is really the only thing that matters. Let em make the whole damn jersey an ad, IDC as long as we are more competitive as a result.

I think it'll be fine if they can work the logo into the SKC brand colors. I hate when sports teams don't work that detail into the contract. I think that the Bimbo red & blue logo on the Philly kits looks terrible. If the Bimbo logo was all white, it would look much better. I never understand why some company logos adjust for the kit they're on, and others don't.

I've talked to some people who have said that major corporations won't adjust their brand colors for things like this, but I always point them to the outfield advertisements at Fenway Park. If they wanna advertise with you bad enough, they'll make an exception. If you wanna be at Fenway Park, your logo is goin' white on green.

So hopefully no one takes this personally, but I'm just glad it's not a friggin MLM company like Herbalife, Amway, or Xango.

Which isn't to say I don't think investment banking doesn't have its own set of problems and shady practices, but I at least feel like this is some legit.

I like it. I'm for whatever helps the club financially and thus on the field. Anyone see a coincidence of a DP signing this yr coupled with this rumored sponsor deal?

Yes. It is exactly that: a coincidence.

Naturally, this is great news for the club. I am also happy that it is a local sponsor. On one hand, I am a bit puzzled as to how a slightly higher profile local company didn't step up here...but on the other hand, this is a chance for Ivy to seriously raise their profile.

I agree completely. I would hate to have one of those legal pyramid schemes smeared on our jersey. I don't care how much money they might be giving those teams. In my mind its like a tramp stamp... just trashy

So, I just bought a jersey recently. Any chance SKC will offer printing of the sponsor at the stadium shops or something?

If true, 2.5M per year... for roughly the 30th largest market in the US... on soccer... in the midwest.

With a current salary cap at 3.2M, increasing 5% each year, even Russian oligarchs would drool at the prospect of covering that high a % of wages with one flick of the pen.

For comparison sake, I have that the EPL's 20 teams spent roughly 2.4B US, on wages in 2010/11 season.
