That's not correct with the changes to the HG territories. Teams can only "protect" 48 (or maybe 52, I can't remember the number) which have to be spread out over multiple age groups but can be players in the Academy or outside and in territory.
But in general, are the kids in college now at "better" (not necessarily bigger) schools than the Academy kids were 4 years ago, and 4 years before that? I seem to think the answer is yes.
You're right, I'm not sure why I thought Akron. Though there is an SKC academy/SKCII kid at Akron, Chong. I'd honestly spaced on Abualnadi. It's not a fair comparison at all, but I know my teenager is a completely different player than he was as a U12. Hell he was a U12 when COVID shut Heartland down, he was a different player by the time his team resumed in person training in June. I'd say yes overall the school are better than they were a few years ago. You still get the Drake's, UMKC's, Tulsa's, but a few years ago it was mostly that with the high points being Creighton.
Creighton has a unique aspect due to it being Jesuit Catholic ... but from a geography standpoint and a "high level history" aspect, we should just be filling up that roster if we were doing it correctly.
This could be a decent move... https://www.sportingkc.com/skcii/news/sporting-kc-ii-acquires-21-year-old-midfielder-ethan-bryant
I remember him being very highly thought of coming out of San Antonio and it sounds like he's doing well at the D3 level in Richmond. Would probably make him immediately one of the more promising prospects in SKC2.
SKCII sign another former academy player. This one leaves college early to do it. https://www.sportingkc.com/news/spo...demy-product-and-college-standout-enzo-mauriz
Seems like he was a relatively high level player at UK which is a solid program. Wasn't in our academy long, but I guess "long enough".
As for St. Louis, they are probably the hottest team in the league, haven’t lost in regulation since July.
Because that's how MLSNP is doing things, the 1 seed gets a bye, the 2 and 3 (KC) seed get to pick their opponent, add a different level of interest to the match ups.
It was broadcast live on Twitter. Cool way to generate interest. I thought they would go for STL for the rivalry, but as Buzz said they are very hot right now.
I watched the highlights. From those, I'd think that SKC2 had as many chances, and a couple really good chances, but failed to put the ball way (or, conversely, Austin did make those plays)
In one of the more random gifts I've ever received, I am now the owner of a bright orange Swope Park Rangers jersey. From 2016 I think.
