The KCWOSO stadium announcement and the less recent announcement that the KCWOSO team will use CMP next year has me wondering if SKC2 will find a home at the PortKC stadium at some point in the future. No reason why SKC would need to do that ... but I think it would be interesting. With them likely leaving USL and going to MLSU23 it's probably less likely.

Back to Swope would seem the more likely move.

Which I'd like to see. Can we get the name back too?

Hey he has 2, Jahon Rad and Aljaz Dzankic. And they're negotiating with Mushagalusa and LeFlore.

Are they gonna go full academy on this season? Never go full academy.
But, it would be a really cool move by the club, actual devotion to youth devo, not a pipeline for mid 20s players on the edge, you can find those at other USL clubs. Not a place to rehab injured guys coming back to SKC. But a professional side devoted to the academy, and really all about that, with 15 players on a gameday roster being from the academy, is interesting. it was the original point

Isn't that what is done at the European academies? Anyway, going full academy only makes sense since SKC II will be playing in the new MLS Next Pro league against other MLS academy teams.

I agree. I was just making a way too subtle reference to a bad comedy movie from about 10 years ago

Is the Vermes Coaching Tree starting to take root? I won't pretend to have any sort of breadth of knowledge here, but I know some of you do. Nags at Houston with Jimmy and now Benny and Ike back together for SKCII. Will Kerry Z get a look at any of the HC gigs? Or is he content to ride along indefinitely as Peter's number 2?

Maybe KerryZ's head coach chance will be with us, when Vermes steps away. That Nags had the chance before he did, and at a time when he's never mentioned in new head man searches, might mean his time has passed.

Or perhaps he's signaled he's happy where he is and really doesn't want any job other than the one he has (or possibly Peter's). There is something to be said for finding your happy spot - assuming that's where he is.

Especially one that seems relatively safe.

Maybe he has. I do remember 3-5 years back, his name surfaced in the who might he the next head coach at X conversations quite frequently. I didn't hear it once this year.
Maybe that's because it's widely known he won't leave SKC, he's the heir apparent at SKC and he's willing to wait.Maybe he's quite happy with the second in command gig.

When PV does finally leave, do we really want PV 2.0?

As PV will probably be calling the shots, I think he might

The thing that has always worried me when PV finally leaves is the work it's going to take the new coach/TD because PV has been so ingrained in SKC for so long that his hands are going to be everywhere, from the first team all the way down to even academy affiliates. The process of the rebuilding within the organization when PV goes if it isn't someone with at least a similar mindset for it has me thinking it'd be a long rebuild process.

I completely agree. On the other hand, the one thing that has always bothered me about how PV runs the teams is the inflexibility of his methods.

Mushagalusa won't be back, he signed with Louisville.

That sucks. I thought he was a dynamic attacking player with potential.

Agreed, where he always seemed to struggle though was consistency. At 22 though he's hit an age where he could start seeing that consistency.

He certainly seems the next likely candidate to join on a full contract since it sounds like LeFlore may not be back.
