It's basically a chance for a lot of these players to show that they deserve to stay in the squad this season and not be demoted to the B team, sold or loaned out. I expect we won't see too much of Dost or Paulo Oliveira Silva Piccini Duarte Tobias Geraldes Palhinha Geraldes Gauld Medeiros Dala Ruiz
Me too but he had a poor loan spell last year and with Coates, Mathieu, Pinto, Oliveira and even Duarte ahead of him there's not much hope One player I'm very hopeful over is Ryan Gauld, not sure if everyone has seen his interview from the other day but he was very humble. Most youngsters in his situation would have thrown their toys out the pram and asked to be sold, but he's waited and waited, learned the language fluently and feels he is in a good place and only wants to play for Sporting
The problem for him , just as for Tobias , is that they're not JJ's players. I think that JJ would rather not have them in the squad.
I wouldn't be so sure anymore, I feel like it's a bit of a clean slate this summer. If he impresses in pre season I think he'll want to keep him around the squad
Looks like this is the starting XI: Azbe Jug Andre Geraldes, Paulo Oliveira, Tobias, Piccini Petrovic, Battaglia, Mattheus Oliveira, Iuri Medeiros Gelson Dala, Bas Dost 3 new faces (Piccini, Mattheus and Battaglia) Geraldes playing LB (normally he's RB) Petrovic seems to be an option for DM Surprised Dost is starting
Annoyed that petrovic is even being given a chance when Palhinha could've got some more game time. Decent team though and I'm excited to see how the Dost-Dala pairing get on
It's only been a couple runs but I like the pace Piccini provides on the right. Him and Gelson could give defense a fits. Looks like Iuri has switched to the left side.
HT Piccini good so far. Nothing has gotten by him and good going forward. Dala the most active up front, obvious pace and a couple of good chances. Honestly though some of these guys probably won't be options
Dala is impressing. His speed is legit. Iuri had some nice short passes and dead-ball passes. He lacks speed, however. Belenenses with a super clean goal. Great finish. Petrovic hasn't played bad, but he has absolutely no place on this team. He never did.
Iuri kinda disappeared as the game went on. He needs to really turn it up this pre-season if he wants to make the team. Pains me to watch him shit on SLB as a Boavista player then do nothing to help is cause with SCP. I'm pushing for him hard.
