Co-host Brian Halliday is encouraging Spirit fans to call in this afternoon and discuss their thoughts about who should be on the 2003 Spirit roster. Halliday has been working feverishly to get one of the new Spirit players in the studio for this afternoon's show that will air on radio station KSDO AM 1130 from 4 - 6 PM. During the first hour of today's show, the featured guest will be MLS and USMNT star Landon Donovan. To call in and talk to Landon or to discuss the Spirit, the USWNT victory in Algarve Cup, the resurgence of Manchester United or anything else going on in the world of soccer, the phone number for KSDO is 858-560-1130.
uggghh i missed that can anyone who listened tell me what they said about the roster also what did they say about the starting keepers?
You've got your times screwed up. The show doesn't start for another 25 minutes! When it does start, you out of towners probably should be call in on the toll-free 1-888-440-1130 number.
Brian Halliday just said that landon donovan will hopefully be on around 4:30 pm. He also said that Omid Namazi should be calling in from Las Vegas, where he is scouting. the internet broadcast is also supposed to be available at www.insidesoccer.info The only problem with that is that there is dead time on the air when there are supposed to be commercials - that's for legal reasons... 4:28 - I just called in and requested that Brian ask coach Namazi about why the team has held on to Zhang Ouying. Brian said that he would, and added that he thought that it might be to use her as trade bait for a defender. He also said that the coach should be on right after the 5pm break.
Thanks for the other link, Tsunami. I'll try it. For some reason, the other one wouldn't set up for me.
It's on every Saturday from 4 to 6pm. The cover just about every thing about soccer, including local club and high school and the US national teams. Sometimes most of the show is on the EPL, though. The more that calls in are about women's soccer, the more they tend to have guests on that will talk about it. I think that the coach is up at Las Vegas because the Breakers are playing the C-Rays today...
I wonder who the the defensive players are (that he says have been invited in for the last week of camp)? Since he has only positive comments about Alli and Jen, I've got to assume that they are part of the 16. I do not like how non-commital he was about Zhang Ouying. That could be bad news for a midfielder...
kind of off topic, but does anybody have a tv schedule of this year's spirit games? i went and looked on cox and they didnt have one just for the spirit.
Jen Nielsen Just to be clear, the Jen who Omid had nothing, but positive things to say about was Jen Nielsen. Omid mentioned that the Spirit are currently "thin in the back" and did say that the Spirit are "looking at a few different options" including taking a look at a couple of defenders who have been waived from different teams. It was interesting that Omid also said something about how one of these mystery players could play a role with the Spirit "as a marking back." I'm guessing that Omid's comments mean that teams will perhaps have another 5-6 days to take a look at some of the waived players and if they then decide to sign one or more of them they would have to waive other players to make room on the roster for them. It looks like there could still be some anxious moments even for players who make the cut tomorrow, at least until rosters have to be finalized which I believe is on April 1st.
