Didn't Spector play in a few champions league qualifiers for Man Yoo against some dodgy clubs?

    Most excellent.

Btw, I subscribed to the WHUTV thing and it is a pretty good quality feed.

It is a better feed than MLS Net, for sure.

Today's edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport shows Spector lining up at right back.

The game has taken on a bit of a larger significance in Sicily because of the "Hammers vs. the Mafia" t-shirts that some West Ham fans printed up for the first leg. Needless to say, they were not pleased. But hopefully there won't be any crowd trouble.

The game will be broadcast on public TV here in Italy so I should be able to catch it.

Nice crowd control, the Italian officials arrested 20 englishmen and 1 local. Yeah i'm sure that was an equal opportunity arrest of who was involved in the brawl.

I'm a big fan of the Green Street Hooligans movie about West Ham's supporters groups. Highly recommended entertainment.

This games big for Spector, a win of this could go a long way to getting him into the lineup regularly. Winning games that get the club paid is always good for your chances.

Palermo ahead 1-0 in the first half, pretty much short of a choke WHU is out...

Too right, and the nature of the away goals means that if West Ham pull one back, it is going to be a very nervy ending for the Sicilians, as a second goal doesn't force extra time; it sends them out of the competition.

well, being part of a pretty bad defensive unit (at home), I'd have to guess not too well.

But maybe his individual effort wasn't so bad.

Spector had a decent game. Nothing spectacular, but decent.

Defensively: He was solid in the tackle and quick to cover back when he turned the ball over, which didn't happen too much. The Palermo players who tried to take him on 1v1 never really managed.

Offensively: He nearly had an assist when his long, diagonal cross from deep down the right was headed onto the post by Cole. But overall his passing was rather sloppy. Too often his attempts went straight to a Palermo player - even when not under pressure. Definetely needs to step up his accuracy.

I'm curious to see what kind of rating La Gazzetta dello Sport will give him. I'm guessing 5-6. I'll be sure and post it tomorrow morning.

From the Sky account, the Hammers had a slew of chances but the Palermo keeper stood on his head in the first half.
