The Magnanimous FA board has commissioned a special Premiership Trophy for us in light of our great achievement

This one I think we get to keep! It'll be great to get a picture with/of it on the next Arsenal Roadtrip!

Definitely!! I'm psyched already!!!! However, if there's one trophy I don't want to see there, it's the Charity Shield. Is it just me, or does it seem that every time we add that one to our cabinet, the Championship ends up being lost?

Far more times than not the Charity Sheild winner doesn't win the title. However, I want to win it and show that superstitions don't affect the Arsenal...by the way which club has the unlucky changing room at Cardiff?

I think that the changing room myth has been dispelled by now.

I do hope that we get a better turnout at the Charity Shield this year than last. That was a disgrace.

What happens if we end up paying Millwall this year in the Charity Shield? As it is normally played between us and the Mancs, and who ever wins loses the Prem. What happens if we beat Millwall, will the curse be broken?

Or will Millwall win the 1st Division?

I don't really go in for omens, superstitions etc. The best team will win the league, plain and simple. We just have to make sure we're the best!

Not being funny here but why get a trophy for this? Where was Man U's trophy for the treble? Both events of a similar historical nature but the FA seems to have been keen to jump onto the media bandwagon floating around right now....

Well, I'm only speculating but maybe since the FA has little or nothing to do with the CL, it didn't feel as if it should make a trophy honoring the treble as a whole. Of course that begs the question why not a special trophy if a team wins the league and the FA Cup...don't know?

All season unbeaten is a definite case for getting a bonus trophy, winning a treble isn't, if you want to whine and ask for another trophy, then ask for something for winning the premier league three times in a row.

    Thats a pretty idiotic statement...

Why isn't a proper treble (not the plastic variety you guys seem to think was a big deal) equally worthy of commemoration? How often has it happened? About as often as an unbeaten season maybe?????

That was my thinking too, yoss. There probably isn't one for winning the league and FA Cup since it is more common. Not to say that a double isn't a great achievement and fairly rare, but nobody in the 20th century was able to pull off an undefeated season. That deserves a special trophy, IMO.

You get 3 trophies for winning the treble. Go unbeaten for a whole season and I'm sure this trophy will travel down to Old Trashford. Until then stop complaining.

    Who's complaining?

You also got a trophy for winning the league - why do you need any more? What next - trophies for scoring more than 100 goals in a season, trophies for scoring more than 100 points in a season? This just smacks of the FA making a populist announcement to endear themselves to the media....

Who's complaining? You obviously are. Man, are you bitter!

You know what you have to do to get one of your own now instead of claiming the current one as yours don't you?

Why am I bitter? Provide evidence please...

Could it be where I highlight what a historic occasion Arsenals achievement was? That doesn't sound particularly bitter.

Could it be where I equate the Treble achievement in 99 to the unbeaten season? Can't see anything particularly bitter about that either.

All I was doing was highlighting that similar achievements had been made and none of those had been deemed worthy of a special trophy - why is this case any different?

Prawn, I have to admit, you certainly pick your spots these days.... ;)

The only problem with a special "Treble Trophy" (as I have chosen to name it. "The Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence" was already taken) is that the FA would honoring a club for somebody else's championship (the CL) as has already been mentioned before.

I do, however, think some type of special trophy for the winners of a Double (Prem and FA Cup) is wholly appropriate.

The very fact that you're on here complaining about us getting a special trophy and Man Utd not getting one for the treble is evidence enough for me.
