I'm not sure whether it was a single store thing or not, but I popped into a Tower Records (rare for me lately) and they were selling selected 80's artists at 80s prices. Unfortunately, I only bought two from that section and picked up 4 at 2003 prices. Anyway, 8.99 ain't bad for a cd in shrink wrap, especially if it's something you want. Iggy Pop and Crowded House have just been added to the collection
All but one Tower Records closed in my neck of the woods. There's only one left in Burlington, Mass. which luckily isn't so far from Boston or where I live. The one downtown Boston, that was on Newbury Street, moved to Fenway and is gone now. I popped in and loaded up with stuff when it went down to 40% off of everything + they had a "cap" of 15.99 for all cd's that weren't imports during the closing sale. They've had to cut prices in general after the lawsuit that they faced a year, two years ago. They got slammed for overcharging CD prices. You're lucky a Tower's still where you live!
