Freshly relegated Clarets from Burnley FC, out on their US barnstorming tour, will face the Claret with Cobalt as they work to shake off the rust from a long summers World Cup nap. Their Head Coach, currently listed as Vacant on Wikipedia, will need to work some magic to keep the lads from succumbing to lustful American thoughts, getting lost in a Buccees, or caffeine saturation with all the free refills they have never, ever experienced, as they romantically bus their way across the US. How else will they get to enjoy the worlds largest ball of twine in Cawker City, Kansas? ****Breaking News**** Good news! Nicky Hayen is the new Burnley Manager as of July 7 on X reported by Sacha Tavolieri. Bad News, the dude is Belgian. Son of a Bitch! Too soon, too soon. They play Cincinnati Friday July 10, followed by a July 12th tilt in Columbus, finishing their tour in Salt Lake on the 15th. The Clarets are currently tied for first place in the Championship table with 22 other teams as Southampton are in last place on -4 points. Should be a fun time to watch 2nd tier English Football. They only way it could be better would be if the might Reds from Crawley joined us. A emotionally stunted old man can dream, right? ***Warning for RSL Fans*** Please check the buses at the end of the game for European dreaming RSL yuuuuts. There are two yuuuuts in particular that someone should air tag before the game. Just saying. Absolutely can't wait to get back to the stadium.
I really don’t know what to expect or hope or even think of this game Playing the same day as a semifinal is weird. But then the semifinal is scheduled for 1p so also wtf
Favorable viewing in all 8 countries remaining in the tournament. Argentina 4 pm England, Morocco 8 pm Belgium, France, Norway, Spain, Switzerland 9 pm A decent start time for the American audience is middle of the night these places.
I’ve been surprised at the people in my circles that have talked to me about this Burnley game. You going? type of thing. Personally, I really have no interest whatsoever and I didn’t even know when the game was, but I thought it was super surprising (in a good way) that Burnley seems to be reaching maybe a different soccer fan in Utah? Just wondering if anyone else has noticed anything along those lines or if it is just anecdotal on my my end?
It probably helps that JJ & Kealia Watt are investors/owners of Burnley. There's overlap of the social media circles for RSL fans and Kealia due to her being a Draper native and graduate of Alta High.
The World Cup and English/Scottish fans discovering America all over social media has to be playing a part in the interest among fans casual or not.
Rsl has done pretty well at advertising during the tournament. Also helps fifa is stupid enough to do the semi finals in the middle of the day. Sure sure it’s “better” for the teams… I just don’t get it
Nice performance from RSL. Burnley looked pretty tired and maybe not happy that RSL was playing like it was a WC semi-final. Too soon? Pablo seemed pretty happy but the Burnley goal was a lot of defensive breakdown in the box with a deflection that caught Rafa leaning the other way. Solans looked really good. Gozo was a bit shaky early but settled in. Juanma looks to be picking up where he left off Rafa is Rafa. Stopping the early pk was nice I thought Quinton played well too. Lots of rust to still shake off but a fun night. Did I catch sight of 15 in the tarps off crew or was that just wishful thinking?
Wishful thinking I was a bit buzzed on the other side of the stadium and wanted to join. But ********ing hell was it hot
Looks like somebody should have filled your comms team in on that overlap... The woman in the photo grew up literally down the road, won 4 Utah state championships (1 in this exact stadium), Gatorade Player of the Year twice, National Player of the Year, scored the fastest first goal in USWNT history…Could probably be worth a mention, but idk. https://t.co/ZJem8Nt9vo— JJ Watt (@JJWatt) July 16, 2026
Their follow-up wasn't any better: It was a pleasure having yall at last night’s match https://t.co/4a6KU0bUMi— Real Salt Lake (@realsaltlake) July 16, 2026
It's especially funny that the comms team missed this, given the solid effort KSL made to give Kealia her due in their extensive article yesterday about the mid season break. Shouldn't RSL's comms team be intimately familiar with local news coverage? It's not like the team gets a ton of that.
Looks like somebody in your FO realized they needed an "our bad" We made an honest mistake yesterday and we are sincerely sorry for that. When we welcomed the Watt family to America First Field, we should have recognized Kealia Watt for exactly who she is.Kealia is a Utah native and one of the most decorated players to ever come out of this… https://t.co/6p70X3A2QB pic.twitter.com/cT2fNVv6v4— Real Salt Lake (@realsaltlake) July 16, 2026
They have a mea culpe up now apologizing to her and her family for being a little dim. The comms team is a bunch of kids to be fair. Or not.
I think you all might not appreciate just how horrible DLH and Andy Carroll were for comms. Idk if any of you remember, but I was good friends with John Genna since I was 15. He did a lot of swimming against the river, and when he died, that part of the org kinda just fell apart with him. They don’t have a lot of experienced people there now, mainly just kids pushing out mediocre content. Maybe I should apply?
