My best guess is that losing Pirlo + Gattuso is too much for the Azzurri...and I don't believe in curses, only in players that unfortunately buy into them.

Most comments I've seen either put the match into the "can't predict" category or assume that Italy will beat Spain, setting up a scary rematch with the Dutch. I'm firmly in the "can't predict" camp, myself. It depends on which Spain team, and which Italy team, decide to show up. Edit: Also, Italy is among that select group of teams (Germany, France, Argentina, Brazil) in which the words "knockout stage", "defeat", and "easy" should never be seen in the same sentence.
