Just turned on the Udinese -Juventus game and for a minute I thought the bianconeri were Juve as they both wear the same home jerseys.

The yellow juve alts need to just be burned. Thought the same when I turned it on, wrong team was in black and white stripes.

Weah had a solid game. Weston had a decent cameo on a partial rest day. Probably hoping to get him ready for the mid week tilt.

Yeah, for as long as I remember, every year Juventus has a different color away jersey.

Someone explained once that it was a sponsorship issue but I am not sure that is the actual reason.

Did the same thing - was on a small screen and I looked for Weah for about 30 seconds (seemed like an hour) - LIke, where the heck is he playing NOW?! He's totally not involved. Duh...

Their record when he doesn't start is much worse than when he does so far this season. In general they get a lot of draws because they don't have the attacking players of an elite squad. Dusan is solid, even very good, but they don't get enough from their wings usually. It's too bad what happened with Chiesa.

You do bring up a great point with Wes and starts.
    Starts:
    W: 1111
    D: 11
    L: 1
Points: 15 out of possible 21

    Doesn't Start:
    W: 111
    D: 1111
    L:
Points: 13 out of possible 21
More wins but also more losses

    Something I found on juventuz.com
How many goals we concede when these players are on the pitch:
    DEFENDERS:
Savona 1 goal in 699 minutes
    Bremer 1 in 636
    Gatti 1 in 284
    Cambiaso 1 in 101
    Kalulu 1 in 100
    Cabal 1 in 79
    Danilo 1 in 53

    MIDFIELDERS:
    Koopmeiners 1 in 216
    Thuram 1 in 178
    Locatelli 1 in 145
    Douglas Luiz 1 in 104
    Fagioli 1 in 71
    McKennie 1 in 65

How many goals we score when these midfielders are on the pitch:
    McKennie 1 in 42
    Fagioli 1 in 49
    Locatelli 1 in 51
    Koopmeiners 1 in 54
    Douglas Luiz 1 in 62
    Thuram 1 in 67

I heard someone say that they are probably sending Douglas Luiz out on loan in the winter window. Wes played him off the team...

    Really impressive from Wes.

I hope he stays in Europe for awhile and doesn’t sell out for an MLS pay day.. which is my great fear… MLS could triple his salary.

The issue I have with this is that it is: A) based on a small sample size (this season only) and B) it doesn't take into account who the opponent was, which is meaningful since we are only looking at a dozen games or so. Wes started against Inter (4-4), Parma (2-2) and RB Leipzig (3-2), which account for 6 of the 11 goals Juve have given up. Two of these are high level opponents, so it isn't surprising that there were more goals. He has also played in multiple shutouts, and given that he wasn't a significant part of the team during the first four weeks of the season (all shutouts), when Bremer was still healthy and the defense was much better, it isn't really telling us much to look at the numbers this way. I expect that some of these will even out for the players that put in significant minutes as the season progresses.

Anyway, I don't believe that Wes significantly detracts from Juve's defense, in fact I think the opposite is typically true.

Here's some data from Transfermarkt that illustrates my point:

TLDR, in Wes' case these numbers may be deceiving.

Maybe, but given the investment that Juve made to get him, I think they will try to give Luiz additional chances to see if he can adjust to Serie A. Not to take anything away from Wes, who still may be a better fit for Motta's game strategy that Luiz, but to get rid of him in the winter window would be a huge failure for Juve's transfer strategy. Luiz was their most expensive acquisition, so busting that hard would not make Giuntoli look good. Also, Luiz has been hurt for the past several games, so it's hard to tell if he is really as bad as he looked in his first couple of games...

We'll see if he plays regularly when he is available again - if not, your rumor may have legs.

Wes on the bench against Toro in the derby. Weah starts on the right.

They paid way, way too much for that. On top of which they also got him for something of a bargain and everyone knows that. Letting him go on loan is the FO admitting that they screwed up.

In any case, given their ambitions in the CL and at home, having both Wes and Luiz in the squad is what they need to challenge in both until Pogba returns in March.

They'll keep faith with him and therefore themselves until at least the summer

What's the over-under on Pogba ever really coming back?

Short-term, I think it's at least 50-50. He'll be sore and have a point to prove, on top of which his legs are sure to be fresh. He could make a serious impact in games especially off the bench in the early weeks of his return.

Long-term, he turns 32 just as his ban runs out and after being out for 18 months, getting up to speed and sustaining it over months is the question and even if he does, in the best-case scenario his time at the top end of the Top 5 will be limited. The mental side will be key: what has happened to his competitive drive? If it's still there, how long until his soccer IQ comes back? Will it come back? In particular, will it come back to Juve's level?

It may not be relevant to Wes. There's a lot of chatter about a Juve-Pogba "by mutual consent" agreement being "in the advanced stages." @usnroach would know a bit more about it, but it's never looked as if Juve believed Pogba's explanation for the drug test. They are more likely to want tto move on

He was always an exceptionally talented player. Will be interested where he ends up -- but glad it won't be mucking up Wes' minutes

How long has it been since Pogba was a consistent positive contributor? He was cooked before the suspension. I don't think he'll ever show more than glimpses of the player he was.

He's only 31 and his stats were okay from a few seasons ago which was the last time he played more than few games. You may be right but who knows.

Yeah, he's certainly got the capacity, but the hunger doesn't seem to be there. And he's basically accomplished everything, so hard to find fault in that.

The last time he had a 1000+ minute season was 21/22 with United, and the last time he played more than 2000' was 18/19. Since returning to Juve, he's played like 200' total :/.

His talent and IQ are undeniable, but the last few years made it seem like his body is questionable. I'm not sure what I'd do if I were Giuntoli, and I suspect it depends heavily on what Pogba expects from his return... how much does he expect to play and how much does he expect to get paid, considering his injury history and not really playing for like 2.5 years?

A termination agreement has been reached and Pogba will be a free agent when his ban ends.

Rumour has it that Maimi is his next port of call
