Cardoso and de la Torre had decent seasons but their clubs are trying to replace them too. This is the season where Euro clubs seem to be playing the "get rid of the Yank" game.
To repeat: Wes had a choice to make and has made it. He's backing himself and is nobody's idea of a fool. I'm inclined to have confidence in his judgement but YMMV Let's see how it plays out.
It was posted earlier, but Wes dated Davide Frattesi' sister for a brief amount of time. It peaked with him taking pictures with her post Coppa Italia victory with the trophy. Later, Frattesi was interviewed and mentioned that he wouldn't talk to her for a bit. I'm summarizing but I think that is the gist. I believe that is where the song may be coming from (the post that I replied to earlier). It's something along the lines of "oh McKennie bring us the hoes." Could be totally off, just what I gathered from other Juve fan forum.
I once read an interview with Steve Cherundolo where he talked about his long tenure at Hamburg. He said something like he considered the job of the sporting director was to try and replace him every year. Not because he was an American, but because the guys job was to improve the team, and Steve's job was to prove him wrong.
The time to leave was probably before his extension. He really has to hope for a rash of injuries, otherwise yea, he's spot minutes at best in pretty low stakes games. Shitty position to be in for fans, since he played so much and did pretty damn well last year. One would think a team would try to build with their best performers from last season in mind, but the club has paved over his little paradise and replaced it with like $100 million of more players.
Wes isn't getting any minutes anytime soon. Juve has spent a lot of money on new midfielders that will play ahead of him until injury or shockingly bad performances. On top of that, he didn't participate in preseason. I still do not get why he refused the Aston Villa offer. Similar money, Champions League, EPL, a successful manager that wanted him, etc... I think he would have had more of a shot at starting minutes at Aston Villa than this Juve squad with all of its midfield additions. If he didn't convince the market this transfer window with his solid play and a lot of minutes last year, how the hell will sitting on the bench getting crumbs of minutes at Juve help him? His value is going to tank. We should remember that he wasn't in Juve's plans last year either and only really got minutes due to Fagioli's and Pogba's suspensions. He didn't thrust himself into minutes due to his play, he got lucky. He will need to get lucky again this year. Frustrating...
I think there's a chant that goes "[Team or player], portaci, portaci il trofeo" which is "[team/player], bring us, bring us a trophy" and they've modified it to "McKennie, portaci, portaci le troie" which is "bring us the [bitches/hoes]".
My guess? He's out of fcvks to give with regard to actual PT and is getting as big a bag as he can right now before he returns to the States at the end of this season.
Thiago Motta plays a lot differently than Max Allegri I’m wondering how much McKennie will be utilized at Juve?
Juve will most likely play between 48-60 matches through all competitions this year. Wes can cover numerous positions on the field and is something that TM will appreciate. He will be valuable in the squad. With that said, I don't know if he will get close to 1000 minutes this year. Nico, Weah, Dusan, and Milik are certainly not strangers to JMedical or the injury bug. @zlatan_but_a_car has already worked voodoo on the CM once... As to what @Dante mentioned earlier IRT the Champions League squad list. Juve will most likely be registering 5 club trained players (Savona, Rouhi, Mbangula, Pinsoglio, Fagioli), and 4 association trained players (Locatelli, Cambiaso, Gatti, Vlahovic) which will not put any restrictions on the list, if I am understanding correctly exceeding the 8 required. Arthur and Kostic on the other hand...
That he's already on the bench is a good sign. I expected him to be totally out for a while, until he got in form (remember, no preseason). We don't know the details of the moves he rejected. Clubs can tie salary to performance in several ways, including using bonuses and increases based on minutes played or milestones achieved.
Chiesa just went to Liverpool and even though he is a winger/forward and they play different positions, depending on the matchups and games, McKennie will probably find more space as well now that Federico is gone.
Chiesa indicated in his farewell message to Juventus fans today that he never made salary demands to Juventus for a renewal, and that there was never a renewal offer from Juventus in the first place. Similar to the tactics used on McKennie this summer. Always fascinating how big clubs can mobilize the PR machinery to try and tarnish a player's image.
I don't believe Chiesa considering comments he made prior to the end of the season about already meeting with the club about an extension and would again at the end of the season. "I want to stay in this great club, I want to bring back Juve where it deserves. I spoke to the director about the renewal, we will speak about it again at the end of the season." His agent has even made public statements about meeting with Juve about the renewal and the discussion is ongoing. Not to mention this gem from an interview about a month ago from one of Juve's directors, Scavino: "Chiesa? It’s useless to tell lies when everyone knows the truth…" I think it's simple pr, now that he's gone he's going to place the onus on Juve.
CL Draw for Juventus: Home - Citeh (Pot 1), Benfica (Pot 2), PSV (Pot 3), Stuttgart (Pot 4). Away - Leipzig (Pot 1), Club Brugge (Pot 2), Lille (Pot 3), Aston Villa (Pot 4). Pretty good draw all things considering.
