What Juve fan is saying Wes shouldn't act in his own best interest? You come across as arguing with yourself.
Wait, what? That he'd prefer a move to Roma over Leicester? It's been widely reported on various sites/journos.
Again, there are reputable sources and not reputable. It could be reported in one source, and it apparently has been, but nobody else is saying what they're saying. Juve isn't really doing anything other teams don't do. Lots of teams sell players if they get a great offer. Lots of teams don't want to sell to competitors, look at Bologna and Juve in regards to Calafiori.
He doesn't have to be paid the same salary, players do sign an extension with a different salary structure all the time. Also, nobody is arguing that Wes won't be paid in his last year of his contract. As for a transfer, it's still too early to tell what will happen. Not sure who's saying he should be doing that.
Wes had been getting what an average "squad player" got paid at Juve. This amount appears to have come down since Andrea Agnelli got forced out as chairman (ex: Aaron Ramsey was making €3m net per year in 22/23, he played roughly as many minutes his entire spell at Juve as Wes did this season... Wes is getting €2.5m net) and since the growth decree ended (making non-Italian players as much of a tax-burden as Italians). The deal they allegedly wanted Weston to sign would have been the same gross salary he's getting paid now, but with the end of the growth decree tax rate, he would've been taking home less than he had in previous seasons. It's hard to read it as anything BUT a "kthxbye" hint.
Literally I quoted the post that says he should have signed what Juve offered "6 months ago" - which, from all reports, was what he's already getting. I don't understand how everyone is pretending that post doesn't exist. It was the one I first responded to.
But I never claimed it was a "good source." I just claimed it was reported. I got no ideas who's accurate. And never claimed to. It's the "I never saw it so I doubt it happened" crowd that annoys me. A personal peccadillo, perhaps.
Lol.... So you doubted it was reported that Roma was a "dream" but you knew it was widely reported he preferred Roma to Lester? Again, just my cranky curmudgeonly self I guess, but that's just such weird syntactic parsing. "I knew he preferred Roma, but I don't believe you saw a quote where it was reported a 'dream move'" - ok... sigh.
Why is everyone acting like post 20991 does not exist? Am I the only one that sees it? Is it some mysterious oracle only visible to me... I mean, read it, then we can talk, because that is the post I was responding to originally that the other Juve fans have now piled on (with Ross smartly slipping into the crowd... lol)
lol because a player prefers a move to one club over another means it’s a dream move? That’s a new one.
"I know he prefers Roma to Lester, but I refuse to believe he would call it a 'dream move' because I've not seen the quote myself! It's a g*ddamn syllogism, Eddie!"
Marcotti didn't specify, but I would assess that he was talking about the current 2.5m. If it was the reported wage demands, I would imagine Marcotti or Jules would have specified. I can't imagine that Wes or his team would be asking for 5m net, or that could also be his team saying pay us that or we wait out the year and leave for free.
I don't care if he's Chiellini hizself. He wrote something I thought was silly. I responded. A bunch of other posters jumped in and argued with me... and apparently some of those actually agree it was silly too.... So I'm kinda confused. But I also think this has become a dumb conversation about a silly post that has gone on too long, so I'm happy to drop it and wait for some real Wes news.
That's a pretty low engagement strategy. This thread might drop to page 2 if we did that. Can't we at least post fat memes?
Well, Football-Italia is reporting that Juve have set Wes' price: "Weston McKennie is available for €15m-18m." So I'm consider that news. Not much else out there. Everton and Miami still mentioned, and Juve is reportedly going to end the fiscal year with close to 200 mill Euro loss...
This would set a new MLS incoming transfer record, currently held by Atlanta United (Thiago Almada for roughly €14.5m).
My guess is that price might be a bit optimistic, if they insist on that number POD. I'd imagine it's reachable with sell-ons etc. but the whole world knows they're willing to let him go and he's inside a year on the contract... Not a great negotiating position.
Sure, I'm just pointing out just how unprecedented Weston's move to FCC would've been. Even when Jozy et al were purchased in 2013, none of their prices came close to what Juve wants for Weston. Bogert's confirmation made me sit up, but the MLS link never made total sense to me from an MLS team's financial standpoint.
