Debatable. No doubt Dest is in great form. But that analysis ignores level of competition. There is a helluva gap between the Ered and Serie A.
True enough. We can only work with what is on the field. I have no idea whether Sergino wouldn't look worse than Cambiaso were he RWB for Juve.
Funnily enough Tillman is leading Ered in G+A-PK/90 and Pepi is not far behind, though those numbers are juiced by the combo of being on PSV and not having a lot of minutes... but still kind of wild to see so many US players in top 3 Serie A teams and battling for Ered stat leadership.
I wouldn’t. I want Milan challenging for the Scudetto. Dest is simply far too much of a question mark defensively at that level.
I am happy to see Wes back in the groove. He will never be a visionary distributor of the ball or close control maestro, but he nevertheless can do good things when receiving the ball in dangerous places, and holds his own elsewhere.
eh...disaster?? he was brought in in the middle of the season and given scant minutes and scapegoated for bad team defending...... might have had one or two mistakes,,,,,but so does everyone that whole loan was messed up imo
McKennie did very well in a tactical game, showing great discipline, a huge work rate, and providing cover on the right and middle. His attacking work was limited, but it was obviously due to tactics. One of my Top 3 players for Juve today. He had a secondary assist on Juve's late second goal. It finished 1-2, a good win away at Monza (a rather stout team to beat away).
Wes got a 6.5 from cultofCalcio. Most of the team did as well. Keeper got a 5.5, Chiaso a 6 and Vlah a 5, Rabiot a golden 8. Goal.com gave him a 7 and did a little ode to tubby. https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/weston-mckennie-usmnt-juventus-monza/blt648cd3b40b456031
The thing about his shape/weight was NEVER funny (or particularly accurate) in the first place. Now it's not funny, very old, and exceptionally inaccurate. Take it elsewhere, please. A lot of people talk about Wes's limits on the offensive end. I can honestly say, though, that for whatever his shortcomings are on the offensive end, he makes up for on the defensive end. He's a great 1v1 defender and can sprint down to the defensive end *extremely* quickly (both of which have been pointed out on here). But where I think he's truly world class (I hate that expression normally, but I think it's true here) is in his ability to destroy the rhythm of the other team. That is partly due to his speed, but he has an uncanny knack of anticipating where the ball is going to go next and breaking up the pass or at least disrupting the flow of the offense. I don't know if there's another American player anyway that can come even close to what he does on the defensive end. Musah is nice, for instance, but I don't see that kind of anticipation in our other guys. I doubt you can teach it.
I don’t know that he’s all that limited on offense. He just does everyone else’s dirty work and he’s willing to fill in at any position. If he spends his time doing that it somewhat limits the time he gets on the ball to distribute or attack.
