“Unlucky” is generous. Yes, they have played much better the past 2 matches and defense is improving with Wober signing. But their persistence in bleeding goals is not unlucky, they have been shambles in the back all season. If they don’t continue to sort that out, they will be fighting for their lives on the final match day again.
No idea how this makes sense. I wasn’t keen on both Adams and Aaronson going there. Having three players on such an unbalanced team would be very concerning. He should be leveraging the fact that two underwhelming players from Juve had quite an impact at Tottenham. I’m actually surprised Liverpool haven’t taken a look to replace James Milner. They are desperate for midfielders and cover at RB. Also was linked years ago.
Liverpool are waiting for the Bellingham sweepstakes and other huge names. Same with Chelsea (Rice, etc.). I don’t think many big PL clubs are in the market for a CM right now. Juve would have to wait until the end of summer to see what happens. That is somewhat fine for Wes (his situation is good at Juve), but probably not really for the club.
I do, and I also know football games are not won on how pretty you look on the field. So no, I hope it does not happen.
It’s nothing like a Venezia situation. Venezia were outclassed by even bottom of the table Serie A teams. Leeds may not be getting the results right now, but they’re not entirely outclassed at the Premier League level. They’re moving in the right direction and results will come. Whatever, we could argue about it all day, it’s not a Leeds thread. I’d welcome McKennie to Leeds, he’d be an incredibly important player there, much like he is for the US.
Sadly I don't have a whiteboard to explain carefully. When I say "a Venezia situation" I don't mean Leeds getting outclassed like Venezia, but having several Yanks in a single club that could go down. Last season we got 12 active players in Europe relegated, out of 31 (active = played in at least one league game at the professional level). We're heading in the same direction this season, but we have fewer active players, 28. I don't want to hit a 50% relegation fail.
She’s a little hostile today, huh? I’m just saying I’d be happy to have three of our most influential players playing on the same team week in week out. Leeds won’t be relegated, especially if they add McKennie.
I don't want Wes at Leeds - but I am not their manager or owner. If he is headed there is it to be a CM .... or will he be slotted at RB (Ayling is not getting any younger) and Marsch would have him guard the right flank - come inside to help Roca and Tyler and also go forward to put in those crosses (like he recently did for an assist) and to be a header threat in the box. Then Wes can stay forward on the headers and Tyler can hang back to prevent the counter where Leeds often get in trouble. Jesse may know that Wes can get up and down the pitch and can be a threat on corners. If they can afford him - might not be a bad upgrade in the D and on the O for LUFC. Could help their GD - which is the # to watch to prevent relegation. Remember the whole point of MMA is that Tyler and Wes have excellent stamina. Keeps Roca and Tyler in the midfield. Just a POV - although I still don't like 3 Americans at one EPL club.
Leeds are out there looking for an 8. It’s what they need to compliment the team. Roca has been playing deeper than expected and doesn’t look to be the right fit going forward but still does well. Rocas deep lying has cause Adams to play further forward. Right now they seem to be putting Aaronson at the 8 but also sliding him in and switching him out with Harrison but they want these guys to be further forward in the attack so they need a true 8. McKennie fits that mold and also offers a defensive presence when needed. He’s gone the distance for Juventus several times since the break so his fitness is good even if its not the press. As far as preference or two many Americans on the team. I think that’s egocentric self entered bias on our part for thinking that. How many frenchies were there on Arsenal in Wengers time. Jesse isn’t exactly pulling them out of the Mls. If anything Jesse seems more biased towards the German. Swiss, and Austrian league.
Wes should be able to do better than Leeds. That may require waiting until summer though. Is he really trying to get out of Juve ASAP. Guess we'll see.
Risky as hell but McKennie could be the key to keeping them from being relegated although I'd have hoped for a bigger club even if it was Spurs.
Reddit is reporting Di Marzio said that terms were agreed with Leeds. The fanbase there generally is terrible, but could be something. Seems like a terrible decision. And I’m running out of energy for bad decisions regarding US players. Marsch should be out if he gets two more bad results. People have been saying it for a month. Guess we love potential Championship players. I was a big Bobby Convey fan.
That -7 goal difference after half a season sure looks terrible next to last season's...-37. Before you ask, Marsch's goal difference last season was -6. He stopped the Bielsa hemorrhage, and has them playing at a level that will keep them comfortably clear of relegation in the end.
Going for Juve to Leeds is still a demotion. Juve would be Top 4 in Italy if not for the sanction. Leeds will remain relegation fodder even if they survive.
I kinda liked having two guys in Serie A that I cared enough to watch now and again. Wes to Leeds seems odd, but also kind of interesting. He's a annoying guy to play against, I'd imagine, which can be helpful down the stretch. Does not seem to make too many giant, goal costing bone-head plays and he can be a dangerous part of a break. Never love a guy of Wes' pedigree in his current good form going to a team who should stay up but is close enough that some bad luck or faltering form clips them, but it'll be interesting.
He wants to hang out with the bros and Juventus is doomed in the short term. I mean he probably has had enough of the league championship race grind too at least for a few seasons.
Yeah Juve is an absolute unmitigated disaster at the moment. I can certainly understand why he wanted out immediately and not wait until summer. Window is closing, seems like he always wanted to get to the Prem. and apparently this was his best option in his mind. I'm just pissed I'm going to have to pony up for another streaming subscription. Too many Yanks at Leeds now not to watch every game.
Bielsa is long gone. No not sure why that is relevant. Marsch is in serious trouble for points with the best shots he has coming against Nottingham Forest away and Southampton at Home. The other games are a disciplined Manchester United under Ten Hag and a potential bounce back candidate in Everton with a new manager. Other teams around them are West Ham and Leicester who also seem just as likely to get a couple wins. It’s make or break now in these next few games for Jesse. No idea why Wes would reject Villa over Leeds. Despite Marsch being a fellow American, I’m thinking he’s in deep trouble. Leeds might have a chance to survive on talent alone but whether Jesse is there or not is completely up in the air.
I don’t really think it was Wes pushing for a move. Juve were in discussions with various clubs like Villa and Bournemouth, and Wes rejected them. If he was so eager to leave, why reject Villa? Sorta risky to hold out for a top club. I think Juve pushed this. Leeds have American connection and are at least investing and building something, and he wasn’t given the time to let the bigger clubs play out their CM priorities and determine interest in him.
Terrible move from a USMNT perspective. In investment terms we would call this a “concentrated position” in a highly volatile asset. Not a good idea.
