I see a Spurs move as a step down tbh, although Wes seems like the exact type of player Jose would love.
But You can’t plan on Mourinho being around beyond 3 years...once he goes your just at a club that never wins anything and sold its soul for a shot with The Chosen One
A Tottenham rumor is interesting mostly because the McKennie to Southampton rumor appeared this summer when Tottenham swooped in for Hojbjerg, because Southampton was targeting him as the replacement. So Tottenham would end up with both Hojbjerg's and Hojbjerg's replacement. But McKennie obviously needs to start at Juventus for many years.
Pirlo and McKennie have unlocked the best version of Wes yet - who wants to break that up? Why would Juve sell him instead of one of five other players if they want to raise dough to reload? Wes’s performance to price ratio has been good and a good fit.
I swear I've seen soccer-related articles in the sports media that were for large chunks verbatim reproductions of posts here.
If Juve haven't activated their option already, they surely would, even if they weren't really interested in Wes long-term. The option is for 24 million euros and with his CM performances in Serie A and the CL this season he's already worth at least that, and still has development potential. Pay Schalke 24 million and flip him to Spurs for 30 million-plus the next day equals a good bit of business. They'd be mad to do it, of course. Not before the end of the season. They're rebuilding the team and their style of play as it is and they simply don't need the disruption.
More importantly, we don't need the disruption. McKennie at Juventus through WC 2022 works quite nicely, for our purposes (and in a happy coincidence, for his).
And apparently, the World Health Organization has been following your posts closely. “This pandemic has been very severe,” WHO emergencies chief Mark Ryan said. “It has affected every corner of this planet. But this is not necessarily the big one.” https://www.inquirer.com/health/cor...ization-not-necessarily-big-one-20201229.html
If Juve were in fact to get 50m for Weston, they would be able to reinvest that into Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo. Locatelli is Italian, so a lot of people would be happy with that, but more importantly, he is a baller. Personally, I would like to have him and Wes.
For sure, it would be a step down (albeit small step). Unless Wes really wants to go to the Prem/Spurs/Mourinho, I can't see why he would want to leave for Spurs, but I am biased.
You guys should probably focus on trying to figure out what to do with Rabiot, Bentancur and Arthur and Ramsey first. Just my 2 cents.
I wouldn't be upset if some of them left, especially Rabiot. Talented midfielder but incredibly frustrating. Unfortunately, there is caveats with them. Rabiot was a bosman, so he probably makes too much for anyone to take on his salary based on his play over the last 1.5 seasons. Same with Ramsey, plus he just turned 30. Bentancur has a 50% sell on clause that was agreed upon with Boca Juniors when we purchased him. Arthur was just purchased for 70m (granted it was a swap for Pjanic and the money was kind of fluffed for accounting reasons) Juventus won't take a loss on him after only half a season. I may be in the minority, but I actually like the characteristics of the midfield once everyone can start clicking. I have flip flopped on what is the best midfield and think it is Bentancur/Arthur as the holding midfielder Ramsey as the creative/attacking midfielder and McKennie/Rabiot as B2B 8's.
Why leave Juve for Spurs? You’re pretty much guaranteed to be in multiple domestic trophy races and a Champions League spot each year with Juve. And I’d wager Pirlo is going to be around a lot longer then Jose. Only reason I could see to go to Spurs is if you’re going to make a ton more money. Which is a very good reason to switch teams when you’re an athlete with a small professional career lifespan.
Does Tottenham have the financial resources and motivation to compel Juventus and Wes to agree to a transfer ?
