No preview here, just win. Time: 1500 GMT/1000 EDT/0900 CDT/Really Dark in Kangaroo Time TV: Arsenal says CNBC, NBC says that it has another game at that time, Peacock App says Peacock. Place: England, obviously.
Muchas gracias for taking up the mantle of thread starter. We can only hope that you're not just the next lemming to go off the cliff!
I mean after looking at his goals per minute I assumed he has been absent most of the season. Fortunately this week in kangaroo time, the telecast starts at 11:30 Sat night for a midnight kick off. This is good because it means if we bottle it, like we did last match day, I can be in bed at an ok hour to get some sleep. Need to win. Soton is broken. Need at least a 3-0 victory.
Chances are we start Eddie but I would like to see ESR as a false 9 with Martinelli, Saka & Mo behind him.
That may not mean too much, other than he's been given a breather. Or it could mean he's ill, injured, or (let's hope not) there's been some sort of falling out. I'm supposed to be working on taxes. So I'm leaving it up to y'all to keep your ears to the ground on this story and report back.
Arteta said today Laca missed training due to private reasons, but a good possibility that he will be in the squad Saturday. He's also "not optimistic" about Partey's return and defended Xhaka at left back saying look at the stats, they don't get much better. The club has 3 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses with him at LB.
Was he basically telegraphing Xhaka staying at LB? Oh boy. Also, I've never thought that citing results stats based on a single player's inclusion or positioning with the team is particularly insightful. There are too many other variables that play into the outcome, to make such a direct correlation. Seems a bit myopic. And self serving.
And they have 4 wins and 3 losses in league play with Tavares starting at left back. Neither number is particularly encouraging for the run in. Arteta has a real stubborn streak, so I suspect we will have Xhaka at left back for the remainder of the season and we’ll have to hope they can hold onto a Europa League spot.
I'm very anti-Xhaka at left back, but if there's a team it should work out fine against, it's Southampton. They're not exactly blessed with pace anywhere. Now watch like Kyle Walker-Peters drop 4 assists or something.
I'm assuming what my DVR guide says is correct, that we're on CNBC. If so, that's lucky for us because not too many game show up on that channel these days. And it'll allow me to watch SFC-AFC on TV, while keeping an eye on MCFC-LFC on Espn+ on my laptop. After that back to taxes! Edit: Nope NBC has done one of their late switcheroos… we’re on PEACOCK. Oh well I can still fashion those 2 screens.
Arteta is very stubborn, the Willian debacle went on far too long and I would hate to see us start Granititanic against Chelsea or Spurs.
Lacazette out, Eddie starts. Nuno back at LB. 🚨 TEAM NEWS!🇵🇹 Tavares returns to the XI🇳🇴 Odegaard captains the side🏴 Nketiah starts up front#SOUARS— Arsenal (@Arsenal) April 16, 2022
HEY!!! All that knashing of teeth, and reading of tea leaves about Granit & Nuno. And in the end the boss makes the call that many were hoping for. Now we just have to see if it pays off. Largely up to the Portuguese lad I guess. Edit: And also to put to bed all that silly speculation about Laca in the last 48 hours, the boss says he got Covid.
9' Martinelli with a SOG. Right at the keeper but a dangerous move. More please! Edit: On second look it forced the GK into a not-so-trivial save down low. Still, it was close to him. 1 foot more to the left and it's a goal?
17' BEAUTIFUL link-up move by Eddie, Gabi & Saka, only to have Forster come up with a fantastic save on a sure goal by Saka. More please!
How was that not a yellow for the shirt pull on Nketiah? Play advantage sure, but it clear slowed down Eddie on the break.
Just noticed that Ben White seems to have his right knee strapped up with some inside reinforcement? Hmm.
Every time Saka and Nuno get going up the left side it looks like a jailbreak. Southampton just cannot handle the pace. Martinelli should own that right wing all day, too.
