I have to write a 2000 word feature article for my college assessment and I am looking for any books that cover the topic of South American players moving to 'wealthy' Europe due to the finacial muscle in this part of the world and how this is affecting the game in nations like Argentina, Brasil, Chile etc where often supporters in these countries dont get to see these young talented players playing the game.

And how this is due to the lack of money in the South American leagues and the poverty in this part of the world.

Are there any books out their that cover this topic I have searched on amazon but cant seem to find anything dealing with this.

    Can anyone recommend anything?

Also are there any good articles or case studys about this online?

think about it yourself and write your own ideas. 2000 words really isn't that much, so if you know your subject it shouldn't be a problem. If you don't know your subject then pick a subject you know more about.

Just outline the problem. Talk about the football in europe. Talk about the game in South America now, and contrast to how it used to be. Speculate about the future and whether there's any solution to the problem, then wrap it up. 2000 words. Piece of piss.

    Hi Carlitos,

I would recommend Futebol: The Brazilian Way by Alex Bellos. Bellos spends the first chapter with a Brazilian playing in the Faroe Islands, discussing how and why Brazilians play abroad, and their opportunities at home. Great Book.

Also, check out Tim Vickery's columns at The World Game, BBC World, and CNN/SI.com. Vickery writes quite a bit about the exodous of South Americans.

It's got to be a lot more detailed than me just writing my own views. Its not meant till the end of may but proper research needs to be carried out with interviews and facts/figures.

Thanks Rob will check out the book you recommended.
