Maritzburg came into this game needing a win to retain their DStv Premiership status, whereas CT Spurs only need a draw to gain promotion. However, the Team of Choice failed to do what was expected of them to retain their top-flight status in the final match of the PSL Promotional Playoffs on their own turf. Maritzburg dominated the majority of the first half as they searched for an opener, however, they couldn’t pass Spurs’ solid defence.
