Just watched my tape of this game last night, which was shown on FSW last Friday. Must say I thought it was a fine game with some nice soccer skills on display, some good combination play and some good goalkeeping. (Though Cullen, the Sounders' keeper filling in for the injured starter, has horrible foot skills.) There was a good flow to the game almost throughout and in the end I think I enjoyed it more than, say, the Quakes v. Revs game which I saw last Saturday. The Timbers had the run of the play in the first 10-15 minutes but the Sounders' midfield gradually took over and had the run of play for much of the rest of the way, before overrunning the Timbers altogether in the end. I also thought the announcers were quality. I don't know if they're "A-League announcers" or members of either the Sounders or Timbers telecast crews being used on FSW, or what, but they had a nice style, knew the game, didn't talk too much, were well informed, spoke clearly and, most importantly, I WASN'T SUFFERING when I was listening to them. Enjoyed it all the way around. Anyone else see the game and have any thoughts?
I didn't see the game, so I can't comment on any of it. The play by play guy is ex Vancouver 86ers, ex Canadian national goalkeeper (youngest goalkeeper to ever play in a world cup game). He did play by play for the Vancouver Whitecaps the one year that they had radio coverage.
