Copied from the USL Discussions board and the MLS Expansion/Stadiums Seattle thread:

We've set up a supporters meeting with the Sounders for 6pm on Sunday the 16th of March at the team offices on 4th Avenue south of Safeco Field. The address and phone # is at http://soundernation.tripod.com/club.htm if you need to send it through MapQuest to get driving directions.

I thought it best because of the parking situation (i.e. free) to meet up there, we can always go to a pub (Pyramid or FX McRory's) thereafter if we'd rather hold it there -- that way we all don't end up paying for parking.

Adrian would like to have a headcount of approximately how many are coming. I'd also like to reiterate that you don't have to plan to be or have tickets in the supporter section itself to come to this, although a fair amount of what will be discussed will involve the supporters' group per se. Think of stuff you want covered in the meeting, whether it be questions for the Sounders, or ideas for the group, etc.

Eric, thanks for posting the info. I'm unable to attend, but I'd be interested in hearing what the club has to say about a couple of things:

    1. Are they reducing their commitment to the total club concept, as evidenced by no longer associating themselves with the reserve "Sounders"?
    2. If they ever get funding for the training complex and stadium in Midway, what else needs to happen to get it started?

Thanks, I'll ask these questions and hopefully take decent notes ;)

#1: Not really -- the club is sponsoring multiple entries in the Super Y League -- and it basically comes down to a money issue with the PDL level side. For the same cost, they can do several youth level teams. Plus, the PDL team had no "lock in" to the talent there -- witness how several of the Selects from a couple seasons back got drafted by P*rtland and other teams -- no return on investment there.

#2: If the funding comes through, nothing else really needs to happen. City of Kent and City of Seattle have given the green light to go ahead -- they're "very anxious" to see this project come to fruition. Of course, an investor needs to come forward and that's the hard part!!!

I posted the rest of the notes of the meeting here:

Thanks. A lot of positives in your report...which makes me feel like I can have a gripe.;) That would be the all white kit. Can't stand that. Hopefully next season, when the unis are more customized, they can go with the aqua shorts.

    White Nike Italia kit?

    Hmm, that sounds familiar...

Wonder what those "variations" will entail...

Well its a sign that things are getting better when all we're griping about is all-white kits :)

Hey, at least it's better than that red crap we had shoved down our throats the past couple years!!

My gut feeling is you'll see the aqua shorts or something similar starting next season -- maybe not 100% exactly like the adidas kits from the NASL days (after all, it's Nike we're talking about here), but something on the same track.

If the Whitecaps are anything to go by, they went to all white when they switched from being the 86ers, but by the end of last season they were back to wearing blue shorts which many people preferred.
