Kaiserslautern dissolved Tiffert's contract. He is on his way to Seattle. It was announced by Stefan Kuntz at a press conference today.
They just officially announced it on FC Kaisertautern's facebook page and linked it to this article. http://www.fck.de/de/aktuell/news/details/article/9576-christian-tiffert-verlaesst-den-fck.html
Looks like a 3 year deal with an undisclosed transfer agreement. We may never know how shrewd of an accountant Hanauer is on being able to make this work. Also, here is a scouting report I wrote a month ago on how Tiffert could shape into the formation. http://cheekybackheel.com/2012/06/2...-speculation-summer-12-transfer-window-opens/
And confirmation from his agent.. Well, his agency: 228882493326127105 is not a valid tweet id Says it is a DP, so another shoe is about to drop.
Are you sure? Everything I've seen is him coming in as a DP. Grant Wahl just tweeted he is DP and so did the guy from his agent's company..
arrg, just saw the DP thing. Although, I thought we had enough money to buy down Rosales DP contract at the beginning of the season, but didn't. Couldn't we do the same thing here? But I get your point, decent chance we have to make room for him somehow.
Idk whats happening in terms of the DP situation. If Tiffert is a DP which is what it seems, I am most inteerested to see what happens because of that..
SAH article mentions no transfer fee. http://www.sounderatheart.com/2012/7/27/3193598/christian-tiffert-seattle-sounders
The S@H article says that indications are that there isn't a transfer fee.. We'll see. I seriously hope that Hanauer has pulled another rabbit out of his hat and that we are somehow able to keep Flaco, but I'm not holding my breath until we find out.
i am wondering on two things one flaco contract has been extended and is no longer a DP or two Tiffert is making DP money but not considered a DP aka allocation money involved.
I think it all comes down to whether or not the Sounders paid a transfer fee. If they paid a transfer fee, I'm not sure how they could avoid making him a DP. If they didn't pay a transfer fee, I could see them avoid making a DP this season by doing what they did with Rosales and pay him peanuts for the remainder of this season, and then make up the difference next season.
At the press conference they mentioned that he had been released, but the details would be worked out over the weekend. I take that to mean they released him with the understanding that "something" was going to be worked out. Reports from the club are now saying the the deal is done.
Hmm.. Under the table payment, or delayed transfer fee payment? IE, we won't pay you a transfer fee right now, but don't be surprised to see an extra million euro in your bank account December 1?
Let's all pool our yachts together, and he can stay on a different yacht each day. Host-a-Sounder-Yacht-Program.
Is it possible that MLS finally relented on its "Transfer Fee cap hits are amortized over the duration of the contract" rule? That would make Flaco non-DP. Otherwise, we'd have to ship Flaco somewhere before putting Tiffert on the roster, but NOT necessarily by the end of the 27th, as transfer windows only apply to incoming players... and the rest of the world is still open.
