Head Writer/Creator Sorkin and the top director are both reportedly being forced out by Zucker, top dog at NBC. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm...ap/20030501/ap_on_en_tv/tv_sorkin_west_wing_3 Though Sorkin has flaws, I still think this is a downer for what was one of the best shows on tv.
Rumor has it that his next show will be West Hollywood Wing, a show about the innerworking of LA's underbelly. Charlie Sheen is attached to the pimp role while word on the street says that Robert Downey jr is being talked about for the drug dealer role.
Actually, rumor does have it that new Head Producer Wells is now looking for more "Republican sounding" scribes... - Getting prepped for an admin change in two years? - Trying to go "Fox" on us in order to get back ratings for the show? - Just a rumor, nothing more?
Yep. I'm curious to see what happens next. For example, will the characters continue to get be smart or will the whole thing decay into a mess of office romances?
Re: Re: Sorkin and Schlamme Leaving "West Wing" I think they should make Josh Leimans secretary airtight.
Re: Re: Sorkin and Schlamme Leaving "West Wing" Judging from the last 4 years of ER, we can expect the west wing to either blow up or be covered by a blizzard every week, and each character to be near death or pregnant (or both) every fifth show.
Re: Re: Re: Sorkin and Schlamme Leaving "West Wing" Okay I confess I don't even know what this means, but if it means Donna's a babe, then yeah me too. Toby pregnant? He's having enough trouble with his ex-wife's pregnancy. I quit watching ER after the first season because they had a dying kid on it every five minutes.
Interesting take on how The West Wing is already heading in ER territory. Personally, I've felt this season to be stronger than last, but this writer has a point. http://www.nationalpost.com/commentary/story.html?id=4428D997-924E-4D29-A69D-AFD602FD70F1 "Why has The West Wing stopped dodging bullets? Show that once embraced its characters is now embracing doomful plot devices"
Now, if Sorkin can revive SportsNight. Sure, Peter Krause has other commitments, but seriously, it's just some little show on HBO.
I've been TiVo-ing every episode since Comedy Central started re-airing all the episodes in the middle of the night. It was strange watching that first season with the laugh track. It improved so dramatically in the 2nd year, it was a shame that it never got a chance to become what it could have...
