    Become the Tea Pot!!
Chelsea land Gerrard now, offer a Lyon a deal where they buy the player (Essien) now and let him stay at Lyon next season and Arsenal are uncontested for Baptista as well?

I think this triple whammy is possible and where would that leave us looking?

I'm not sure who this 'one player' we are after is..but who would bet against it being Essien?

Who else does that leave for us to even go in for in the midfield department?

I have a feeling that if chelsea land Gerrard then we would be able to snap up Essien easier. He has stated that he would favour a move to UNITED. Baptista i'm not sure about whether we will get invovled or not, hopefully... YES

hmm, if you were Lyon and Manchester United came in and offered 15-19m for your player and say, Chelsea offered 20m+ and allowed the player to stay at your club another season...which would you chose?

i think if chelsea land gerrard, that will pave the way for us to swoop for essien, ballack or that argentinian guy (forgot his name) and they will come cheaper then if chelsea was interested.

I get what your saying, but i was being hypothetical with that chelsea wouldn't bid for Essien if they bought Gerrard.

Yea, wouldn't put it past them though tbh. I'm starting to feel a little pessimistic. Perhaps it's unfounded but I think we're gonna come out by far the worst of the top 3 this Summer.

We can only hope that your wrong mate. It is difficult now that we are a private company that nothing gets said till it happens. There is plus' to that I suppose. Essien ;) ;) ;)

you are being very pessimistic... of the big 3 we are the only one to have completed an actual transfer... in fact, we completed 2. We've got some depth at the wing and added a bit of creativity and we've got a solid #1 to put behind that stellar defence... I'm sure we will get the player we need - it may not be the player we want... but i've got a good feeling that come December we wont be talking about how do we replace Keane.

    Arsenal - Hleb

    Chelsea - Del Horno

I'm more concerned that we are going to be left with a sub par player and not a top notch one. I'm being pessimistic because (like I think it was Invincible who said it) I don't think we are going to fortify our bench.,..which was not good enough last term and wont be sellling anymore then 1player... :(

My point is that we were the team most lacking from the bench last term. Partly because of injuries and partly cos our benchers were crap. Getting one quality signing in would change a a lot of things.. I can't see who that's going to be. I'm almost 100% sure we wont go in for Baptista..peple mumble about Ballack but that is most likely never going to happen, we wont get Essien. Meh. *shrugs

Now is the time to see if Gayslurs will put their money where their mouth is
"If there is a chance to sign another Wayne Rooney" well, their could not possibly be a better chance than this to prove themselves to the club's fans. Splash out 30M for Stevie.

If that happens what do you think the Chances of ChavScum snapping up SWP as well..

We really need to make something happen if we want to compete this season..... :(

If Chelsea want SWP they will get him. There will be no real competition for them to fend off either as we wont make a bid and Arsenal although rumoured to have bid 16mil ... wont compete with Chelsea. Ian Wright seems very open to his adopted son going to Chelsea so there is nothing stopping that from happening.

personally, i wouldnt mind baptista AND essien.

essien would be the perfect keane replacement, he has all the raw tools that keane of old had, plus the added bonus that he is a united supporter, which would mean he would be far more committed than your average "johnny foreigner", or that scouse git gerrard, with this signing, some of the deadwood should be gone, preferably miller (who has shown nothing), kleb (who is probably good enough, but just not suited to the EPL), fortune (who is a perfect servant to the club, but is close to being usurped by richardson)...

baptista would be a huge coup for us, he would be rooney's perfect partner, they each share much of the same qualities. however, his signing would mean one striker will have to go, preferably smith, i like his battling qualities, but his end product is pretty dire, plus, saha, WHEN he regains his fitness, would probably be ahead of him, in terms of talent and technique...

plus, these two signings would push on David Jones', Floribert Ngalula's and Darren Fletcher's development(s), learning from Keane, Scholes, Essien and Baptista is probably the perfect education programme for ANY young central midfielder....

I would really like to see United more interested in this kid Mascherano from River Plate. He would surely be less expensive than essien or baptista, and given a year to adjust he may be a sutable replacement for keano.

You know...since we've been stung a few times for a few players..Ronaldnho/Robben..our manner and behaviour in the transfer market has changed dramatically. We used to put feelers out all over the place and just test the waters..even with Rooney Sir Bobby himself denied we had any interest in the kid...it's so hard to gauge what our thoughts are anymore as SAF keeps it zipped and we say (and seemingly do) nothing. It's very strange/frustrating for the fans. I hope we are scurrying around behind the scenes..

yes, combined the fact that we got burned, with the new fact that we're no longer a plc and dont have to announce everything will mean we as fans go from knowing almost too much about our transfer dealings to knowing almost nothing.

    Thanks Yoda!!!! ;) :D

Hopefully what his devil child said on MUTVis correct and they will actually spend some money to improve the team so we can compete with Chavscum and Arse. Unfortunately so far we look to be looking at low cost additions which so far bring no major improvement to the squad...That being said I don't thinkThe cost of Scause Boy is worthit but if we could bring in SWP for less money and we can actually have a future Giggs replacement I'd be all for it. Unfortunately He might get killed if he joined us from Citeh.....

Probably. You know, win a few trophies, quell the masses. No one will even notice when the off-field problems start.
