To be brutally honest though, who cares about their financial info as we all have a good time at every game (even when we lose). Also, if you go to the tailgates and other events, there is plenty of discounted food and drinks. All of this for a fairly low annual membership fee to be part of on the greatest named organizations in the U.S.A.!! If you guys don't like it, then don't pay the fee each year for a membership kit that is well worth more than the $27 that it is right now. So, as I said, who cares about how they handle their finances? If you wanna know, then try to get elected onto the Executive Board. Otherwise, no need for the complaints.
all i'm saying is we all get our moneys worth and have a lot of fun. that's all that should matter. if there were financial reports in all of the newsletters, I'd probably be less likely to read it. Not everything is about money, i'm a proud SOB because i have fun every single time i'm with the crew #DOOPCITY
That's all fine but when you have to be a member to maintain your River End seats it's not as simple as just not paying/joining.
We still get things cheaper than everybody else in the stadium. All I'm saying is being open about finances isn't all that important. We are definitely getting way more than our cost.. #DOOPDOOP
It's important to people who care. Just because you don't care doesn't necessarily mean transparency isn't important. I don't know you personally but I've been a member since early '09. Board members and presidents have come and gone in that time. SoB finally has elections now, so they recognize the need for member input. To be an informed member and contribute something to the group as little as a vote or membership dues, it helps to be informed on the goings on. That's all I'm saying. I have no reason to distrust any SoB board members, but that doesn't mean I don't also want to be an informed, educated member.
In the river end, yes. everywhere else in the park, no. of all the things I've ever read on here, this has to be the most ridiculous. look, I don't think anything underhanded is happening financially. but any group that collects dues should be open to their members about how those dues are used
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/soccer-fc-yahoo/sons-of-ben-success-story-revisited-202837131.html Some five years on, the story still holds up. The Sons of Ben painstakingly built a groundswell of support for the Major League Soccer franchise they envisioned in their home of Philadelphia, growing from a handful to a few thousand in the process, convinced a group of aspiring owners that there was a market, petitioned local politicians for stadium funding, and finally got MLS to award them a franchise. And as their payoff, they got not just a team but also input on the design of the stadium's supporters section and even their own gate.
Hey I didn't write the article, while I have previously donated to the group back at the start I'm not even a Philly supporter... M
I tend to step gingerly around these parts...so ain't no way I want to ruffle any feathers...I've been warned and even permanently banned from the BS referee thread. So I'll leave it right here for the time being.
I could have tried a lot harder, this was barely an effort. I have a problem when our supporters group seemingly works as the marketing wing of the FO instead of for the supporters. Lots of smoke, mirrors and subterfuge. I only asked him a question.
I failed to see where your vitriol has to be directed at that specific user. Wrong. You asked him two questions.
Haha remember all their paranoid delusions that if they ever held elections some Manchurian Candidate would get elected and destroy the whole organization?
http://www.brotherlygame.com/2015/11/3/9666644/sons-of-ben-name-new-president-vice-president current Vice-President Ami Rivera will be the group's next President, effective January 1. Replacing Rivera as Vice-President will be Jeffrey Mitchell, current Director of Social Media for the organization.
I honestly don't care who is president, but I'm curious... do other supporter groups simply "name" their prez and VP or is there a process by which rank and file have a say? if we lose the calvin pissing on red bulls pics, I'm out
