The guys with the really good ball-handling skills should be in center mid, IMHO...get the ball downfield, then cross it to the human flagpole so he can head it in.
Like crouch!? Yea thats where we used him in hs. Our best guys were in the back. Our center mid and center defender took turns taking the ball up because they were the most skilled players. Not to mention we played with 4 in the back. He can play an attacking center mid. Much like Ronaldinho.
Okay, another question on behalf of my husband who just doesn't have a log in here....but probably should. The main concern here is missing the English Premier League games on tv to play in the Casa League. Is this true? Does playing on the SOB team mean good bye to watching live EPL games? (factoring in possibly lengthy travel time to play on Septa)
Depending on the time of the game that is correct. The times vary every week. So we can play anywhere from sun up to sun down.
Safe to assume being a member of the SoB's is required to play ball on the team? I am interested but don't know how I feel signing up as a free agent and just hoping to get picked up.
Last season CASA made a team of free agents before the start of the season. I'm sure they'll do the same in the spring.
Is there a summer league or anything that starts up around May? I want to play but won't be home from school until the first week in May.
Hey everyone. I joined the SOBs back in the summer, and would love to play in the spring, if possible. Where and when is this league? I've been looking to play somewhere for a while, and this seems like a great chance.
Okay, well, there is no way my English husband will miss a single United game, so maybe he should just be a free agent. He's only here since April, and needs to stay connected by not missing games. Maybe we'll meet some of you at the Dark Horse on Wednesday?
I would definitely be interested, if there's a spot open. I'm 25, and a little out of shape, but I played at a variety of levels from age 6 to 19, and also refereed and coached a little after I stopped playing. I know someone had mentioned something on here about a goalie. I have a (female) friend who played D-3 college soccer and set a bunch of league records as a goalkeeper. So she might be interested, if there's room. If someone could let me know who to get in touch with, that'd be great. Thanks!
I took Septa to get to most games in the fall. I used the El and then transferred to the 84 bus. The bus comes hourly on Saturday, so sometimes I had to arrive a bit early or a bit late. I was helped a ton by folks willing to drive me home. Rides home are easier to coordinate than rides to the games. You and your friend should definitely play. Speaking of which, I'm up for playing again myself.
Is there any update as far as when the season starts, how much and where/who to pay? Enjoy the big game tomorrow SOB's.
Alright, I'm definitely interested. However, pretty much all of my soccer experience is as a keeper. I played through grammar school and into high school in goal. I'm 21 and getting back into shape, but am def not soccer shape to say the least haha. So I guess my question is, are we all filled up for keepers, or what is the status? I wouldn't be opposed to being a backup to the more senior of our guys. I'm willing to play my way into the lineup
Word on this thread has it that our trusty net-minder Dave isn't coming back, unfortunately. No one else on the roster had a lot of experience as far as I know, tho we had to cover for him a few times. Anyone who is interested in playing between the pipes would probably get a shot at this point...
I thought I was going to end up playing keeper, but if someone else is willing they are more than welcome
