IIRC, Yankee Doodle originally mocked Americans...

Kind of want some call and response chants for the columbus match since the outlaws have both ends of the stadium opened up for us.

I just think people should see Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American." People always try to sing songs that no one outside a supporters group knows. Everybody knows, at least, some of the words to "Proud to be an American" and even casual fans will be able to sing along. It can be our YNWA.

    No freaking way.

Most people I know hate that song for being jingoistic simplistic, and narrowly focused on one man's personal situation. It's also country music.

    Here are the lyrics:

I don't see it as jingoistic. I think it would be perfect to sing and would sound great with a whole stadium singing it.

Doubtful you'd get the whole stadium singing that song for the reasons I outlined above.

Plus God features heavily in the ending.

The American Outlaws are a gift from the soccer gods, and it's amazing to have 20,000 traveling supporters at a World Cup on another continent. Anyone who can't see how much US interest has grown since 2010 isn't watching or is in denial.

But I am hoping for a new fight song that's not based on "I Will Follow Him" by Little Peggy March.

Thanks for bumping this thread and having good ideas.

You know how latin teams chant "Ole!" when their players pass the ball to each other. I think maybe we adopt Daniel Bryan's "Yes!" as our version. Maybe chanting his "No!" when opposing players pass the ball to each other. Would be cool hearing a whole stadium chanting "YES, YES, YES!"Just a suggestion.
