tottenham are pressing today and not sitting back and countering like they did in their win against city earlier this season. i might be naive, but i think jose is throwing this match to keep city on their toes in the carabao cup final
Disagree, his success rate was pretty poor and him losing the ball too often was likely the reason why he didn't get much playing time initially under Poch. He's not a great dribbler IMO.
i agree, he's not a good dribbler and he tends to take too many touches on the ball or lose possession when he dribbles. but when he rarely makes a direct run at defenders, he becomes predictable and easier to shut down against a low block defense. as a defender, you position yourself to lead him out wide and he'll make little attempt to get past you. show him out wide and 80% of the time he'll either backpass or lose the ball for a corner/goal kick. i'd like to have him run at defenders while making more cut-back passes or put cross in to vary his actions more.
Best thing Sonny can do for Tottenham is to have his contract be sold at a high price so the club can rebuild
I have no clue why he wanted to resign with this club. There is no future. I hope his dad can play a role here. This team is not going anywhere.
Pretty sure Kane will leave as well when Son does. Or vice versa. I personally want to see him playing in Germany again.
He’d go for $60-70 million (this is taking into account a pandemic discount as well as Tottenham’s finances going to shit), which no club can afford right now (except maybe City and PSG, but he’s not needed at either) German clubs are already extremely conservative buyers, no chance he gets purchased with pandemic finances.
Their profit after taxes for 19/20 season was only ~9m, and that was in a year that they won the treble and had fans for most of it. The previous season was ~50m. This season they will be lucky to simply not be in the red. They’re not going to make a record breaking purchase regardless of the position, and in SHM’s case he’s not needed so it’s definitely not happening.
Who cares? You keep telling ppl "they can't afford shit" when ppl are just stating their wishes to see him playing in other countries. Also, there are "assets" for a reason. "It is said that Juventus is trying to prepare Son Heung-min’s transfer fee of 9 million euros (about 120.8 billion won) until the existing players are released." Some ppl apparently dont know what liquidity is.
I’m pretty well aware of what liquidity is, but they posted a 40 million loss last season and projected to lose far more this season. 90 million amortized over a 3 year contract would be pretty much impossible for them to even consider (I would assume 3 years is what he would get considering his age, but even with 4 years that’s a huge financial burden). Even if they got Ronaldo off the books and a decent transfer fee, they would have trouble justifying a 90 million euro transfer, that’s how much in the shit they are right now. I’m not saying that clubs can’t afford his transfer for fun, it’s just how it is.
Correction, Juve posted a net income of -90 million for 19/20, not -40 million. So yeah, their finances are dire.
