assist to toby. finally a set piece goal. son provides good deliveries from the corner imo, but headers are usually poor from spurs. https://streamable.com/xh6ptq
Great goal, great assist, and his workrate all day making runs into the 90th was excellent. Spurs looked much more fun to watch even if it's Leeds.
Actually helps when you don't try to sit on a one goal lead. Congrats to Son on his 100th goal for Spurs.
As much as Spurs are defensive (and counter attacking) to a fault, Bielsa's Leeds is positive to a fault. The problem with him and Mourinho is not that they are bad coaches but that they are kind of one trick ponies, managers of the old school that slowly tweak strategies over time to improve the team. Mourinho had and still has plenty success with that, but during the last decade tactics advanced and many coaches and teams adapt to the opponent, often even during the match. So when opponents of Mourinho's Spurs fail to contain their attacking movements Spurs will usually play well. If they however manage to contain them the result by Spurs can be everything between a dirty win, a boring stalemate and a hopeless loss ("garbage" as put in the previous pages). Mourinho better hopes to get to play more opponents that are positive while not managing to contain Spurs attacking movements, those certainly are his most watchable matches.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...Madrid-Spanish-giants-set-meet-Tottenham.html Zidane interested in Son and apparently there's gonna be a meeting between the two teams. Not even sure if this is true lol..
They’re mid table (higher than Wolves too) and their goal difference is only -3, better than all teams below them. They gave trouble to a lot of good teams this season, I don’t think they can be waved away as some pushovers.
I think the rest from having the Fulham game cancelled was really helpful, the whole team looked a lot sharper.
I respect their playing style and attacking prowess, but none of their wins were off the backs of incredible defense or even solid/average defense. They're literally one of the worst in terms of goals conceded in the league, they simply don't have the personnel to play defensively. To counteract that, Bielsa encourages an all-out offense which is fun to see but they get run over by the top 6/more quality sides (Chelsea, Spurs, ManU, etc.) I think they finish mid-table which is an accomplishment in itself for a newly promoted side.
I also have doubts b/c I think Son is super happy w/Spurs and obviously fits like a glove atm--but his signing w/CAA sports + not signing the extension for some time now (despite talks of it over the past couple of months) makes me think he's biding his time. There seems to be a possibility of him leaving/or at least seriously considering offers if Spurs don't win any trophies this season.
I don’t disagree with this, just pointing out that they aren’t some easy relegation fodder team that is a guaranteed 3 points.
#thfc Spurs have put non-urgent contract talks on hold, including with Son, while the long-term financial outlook remains unclear. https://t.co/hrNdPVnfMj— Dan Kilpatrick (@Dan_KP) January 4, 2021
You have crippled Bale stealing 600k a week but they won’t give Son’s a new contract, Lol. Time for Son to move on. Son can easily make 600k a week at Real.
Bale's not getting 600k at Spurs, what Real pay him is on them. There's a reason why they are desperate for someone to cover part of his wages. With the financial challenges around European football clubs there's no footballer at Son's level that will get a 600k contract.
His wages is only a portion of his total income since he makes more $ through his brand (endorsements, etc.) as a sporting star off the pitch than as a player. So he may be better off at Tottenham where he continues to shine, as well as to play a compelling character in the ongoing narrative of the club searching for trophies, than going to a bigger but a dysfunctional club where he may underperform and be unhappy.
Clubs are really doing poorly financially, not a good time to be negotiating contacts if you’re a player.
