Kane easily MOTM, won the game with his head on defense with the goal line clearance and the headed assist to SHM once again. 7 assists from Kane to Son this season and Sonny now in sole possession of top goalscorer (8) in the EPL. The telepathy on this combi has just been absolutely insane. SHM had 2 chances in this game, one was defended superbly and he buries this one with his head no less, so exciting to watch this team even vs Burnley who parked the bus.
Kane>>Son connect reaching new level. https://streamja.com/qVgJ2 Davis is utterly useless. No clue why he started.
i thought it a lot. the two are playing with so much more chemistry and understanding after mourinho became manager. they're playing off of each other and son's gotten so much better at attacking empty space in the final third, knowing he's also being targetted for direct passes. under poch, it seemed like it was kane's job to score and everyone else was there to help him score. now, it seems like kane's encouraged to play more creatively and he's showing passing ability i didn't know he had.
Some sadsack Gunners were crying because they'd hoped Auba-Laca would've been what Sonny-Kane is right now lol
Clearly Mourinho has Kane dropping back further, almost as a 10 at times. Him not always strictly playing as a 9 has been good for Sonny's goal production.
I think it helps that Dele Alli ain't there as well. They all went a bit in the way of each other, there'd be less space for Kane to drop down in with Dele in support. The Premier League top scorer at the moment, with no Aguero and Kane eyeing assist record there'll probably never be a better season to go for it.
Lamela sub was really underrated. Was getting quite a bit of flack from the match threads but his pace and creativity was on point today. Produced some dangerous moments (as dangerous as it could be w Burnley's playstyle) and had the hockey assist off a great corner. Kane/Son can actually finish first in goals/assists (honestly, it's very possible that Kane eventually overtakes Son in goals as he has a penchant for bagging multiple goal games) but either way, as long as they both stay healthy and stay in form, it's currently their record to lose.
Kane's also been getting way more praise than he's ever gotten before. He's always been an amazing passer, but when he was mostly known for scoring goals, I think there was this image of him being some big oaf who scored a lot of tap-ins. Now people think he's Zidane or something.
It's just a tired, parroted rhetoric from other EPL fans and those who watched England games. He also is the default pen-taker for the team and did score a lot of tap-ins throughout his career, especially with Eriksen/Dembele in years past. That being said, he's really been unleashed with pacy wingers on both sides and being able to drop back deeper to create plays instead of solely being the beneficiary of passes. Kane's also basically doing Dele's job better than Dele ever did (pace-wise, Dele did have some outstanding seasons in the beginning of his career) and thus, there's no room for Dele in the squad at the moment with other available subs that fits Mou's system rather than being a good swiss-army knife/positionless player. Didn't look good in the ~25 minutes he got vs LASK either & it seems like he hasn't taken the criticism about his training/effort from Mourinho to heart yet--I expect him to play in the EL game vs Antwerp (hopefully Son/Kane can get more rest too) I still have hope he can develop into a really good player
Also, apologies for double post but this is so wholesome; Sonny asking Kane if he got the assist “Did you get the assist” 🥺🥺🥺 pic.twitter.com/zAyKoK5zJP— . (@totnum1764) October 26, 2020
This should have been the Monster Another game. Another debut. 💪#THFC ⚪️ #COYS pic.twitter.com/Q9nwQPpmSM— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) October 26, 2020
They're going for records. We're only six games into the season Kane and Son has assisted each others goal 9 times already. That's equal to Spurs PL season record of Sheringham and Anderton. 32 games left to do the 4 goals needed for the Premier League record of Lampard and Drogba. Kane already on 8 assists, record is 20 from Thierry Henry and Kevin deBruyne
Son and Kane didn't play well together for some time. When Kane was out injured, Son stepped up and Tottenham had better results. Kane comes back and everyone focuses on Kane and Tottenham didn't play as well. Happened several times. Good to see Kane is evolving as a player and is flourishing in supporting role. Team is much better for it.
It's sad just how incompetent Pochettino really was just hoofing the ball over to Kane. Son should have 200 hundred goals by now. Ronaldo scored 60 goals one year under Jose. Jose is using the same tactics he used in Madrid. Real difference between world class manager like Jose vs Poch, poor guy. https://thefightingcock.co.uk/forum/threads/jose-mourinho.33910/page-802
