They can definitely co-exist and thrive. But Conte is forcing square pegs and for various other personal and health reasons, seems to have checked out. They were playing their hearts out for Stellini
Can'te looked like that typical dude who did not want to go to work. But he definitely lost the locker room. At this point, Levy should pay the severance n part ways...getting sick of his threat of quitting every other week.
In the cup game against Preston, Son was free to come in from the right. Problem: Kane wasn't up front then, and he's normally undroppable.
The solution is simple: Conte/ Stellini must pick players whom they consider essential to the desired way of playing football. If someone doesn't fit in with these key players, don't play them. Or just resign, but if that happens, it'll be for health reasons.
yeah he's certainly loyal to Kane and Son. Dier ss well. Kane downed tools for half a sesson last yr and should have been benchrd. This yr, it pains us but it's Sonny. Esp with Richy, Porro and Danjuma available. Also, one of Son's best traits is his ability to play anywhere along the front line. He's bleeping 2-footed. Any manager would try new looks if things got stale. Both Son and Kane have either deserved to be benched or needed a rest but Conte been unable to make the call. Big teams rotate their players no matter how "big" they are and Spurs never do it. It even costs them trophies (Kane for Lucas CL Final).
yeah the on pitch drop off from Stellini was shocking. Looking more and more like the players are getting fed up with playing 3 at the back. It's 2023 and Spurs are a 1 formation team and when healthy, do not rotate players. They are way too easy to gameplan for.
I myself would have favorites if I was magically appointed manager of Tottenham. But as you say, Son is two-footed. In that aspect, and work rate, he's identical to Perišić. No need to force both to play on the same side. Not in a 3-4-3. In the game Croatia vs. Morocco, Perišić played LB in a 4-2-3-1. But Oršić and Son aren't truly identical types of players. I do think 4-2-3-1 (Son and Perišić on the winger positions) would be good for Tottenham- and that's coming from someone who loves a back 3. But the winter transfer window was a giant mistake. Instead of fixing the central defense, the club buys a wing back and a winger.
If that really plays a major role in this case Conte/Stellini managed to significantly worsen their decision making from last to this season. Maybe their desired way of playing football fits the squad even worse this season? Sorry, can't see a way to make Conte/Stellini look positive in this even if there should be external forces. After a season they should know what they have at hand, and improve on that. The opposite appears to happen.
Emerson can clearly defend but was providing next to nothing offensively so I do get the Porro move but 100% agree on their continued failure to bring in an even decent CH. Cuz decent is not what they are starting. Davies, Dier, Sanchez and Lenglet not going to give Spurs consistency wk in wk out, let alone win them trophies. Hindsight always 20/20 but KMJ making fools out of ENIC for not acting decisively.
The fool signed a contract renewal until 25 I forgot when, was a incredibly short sighted decision because nobody is gonna want 31-32 year old Son..
Celtic might. Wishful thinking, I know. But, if Jota leaves us, and Oh has a great time, Son might want to experience some trophies and success while still having CL games. One of Celtic's crucial players right now is an ageing Aaron Mooy, who is having the time of his life. And Son is fitter than him.
