Right. SHM didn't even score in the other friendlies against low opponents. In fact, Hamburg in general...

Hopefully the things like the 1-2 that SHM tried to play with Ilo last week will turn into goals with vdv there. And hopefully VdV shows him a trick or two as well.

EDIT: Perhaps SHM needs a new dutch mentor after RVN:

Hamburger SV: Neuhaus - Diekmeier, Mancienne, Sternberg, Aogo (61.Dettmann) - Tesche, Arslan - Lam (46.Steinmann), van der Vaart (61.Brügmann), Jansen - Son
Lineup from the official match report. Will we see Son more often as the 1-top?

Should buy him another crack at the starting lineup, but this time with van der Vaart around. Fink was rotating around the attacking four to see who were at fault for the lack of productivity and Son could have been next to be omitted.

I don't think he was on top. Arslan doesn't play wide. I'm guessing he was on the right

Lam could play right but he was subbed by steinmann who is a DM as well I think which would indicate he was DM

pretty sure Arslan and Tesche played deep, Lam, VDV, and Jansen played in the three AM roles, and Son played up top. If that one's correct.

Nobody mentioned it so I don't think so. Plus he had an assist on VdV's goal which made it sound like a cross. Arslan isn't a DM (he sucks defensively) and Lam has been playing defense all preseason/season.

And the hsv blog/hsv official twitter/dan_bu all listed in ways that implied arslan played up top. Since I am doing nothin right now:

HSV blog: HSV: Neuhaus - Diekmeier, Mancienne, Sternberg, Aogo (61 Dettmann) - Lam (46th Steinmann), Tesche, Jansen - van der Vaart (61 Bruegmann) - Sun, Arslan.

    HSV: Hamburger SV @HSV
Startelf im Testspiel gg Schwarzenbek: Neuhaus - Diekmeier, Mancienne, Sternberg, Aogo - Tesche - Lam, van der Vaart, Jansen - Son, Arslan

    Dan Bu:

HSV XI vs. Schwarzenbek: Neuhaus - Diekmeier, Mancienne, Sternberg, Aogo - Tesche - Lam, van der Vaart, Jansen - Son, Arslan / vdV captain

I guess he's on top for this one.

Scored #2 and up 4:0 as of 10 minutes ago.

EDIT: 7:0 and son scores #7 (vdv scored #6)

EDIT2: Just as an FYI, its 9:0.....

    at half time.

Why do they even bother going up against such weak teams? Just for ego boost? My U-10 girls team is avail if they want. They will just have to travel to NJ.

They had trouble scoring in the preseason against similar caliber opponents. I imagine given the lack of bodies from intl week, they don't have enough to play HSV II, so why not.

Seems like HSV is squeezing every penny out of the SMH media machine. How about getting him some meaningful playing time so he can maybe have a chance to make the squad for Brazil '14.

    That's something they could milk.

He's starting this season. Unless he messes it up to the point where they can't justify it any more.

This one looks like because he's the biggest product of the youth program in some time.

I also think that because he's young he gets forced to do these things... most don't look very marketing related for once (at least in terms of sponsors...)

The germans love him. well... they did before he started sucking. I think the german teenage girls still do

his german seems ok enough to me a non-speaker... his pals on the team are all german speakers too.
