Enjoying a couple of delicious beers at the lovely Sawmill Brewing in Merrill. An amazing location and great beer. We are having Bock and Oatmeal Stout, then an Irish Red, I think.
Not really. Just don't want to risk getting all the way through an interview just to find out they drug test. I'm sure there are ways to cheat but I could probably use the break anyway. Of course I got 3 6am shifts this week and it's literally the only way I can fall asleep at 9/10pm.
I was 0.015 off on my GPA to getting a much better scholarship. I let some of the beer spill, so that reflects.
First drinks in a long time. D&G brewery Kolsch and Ciders on the deck with my kids' God parents. A great evening.
I don't want to be this guy but...they taste better in Japan. Must be the import time or something. Same thing with Tsingtao. It's delicious in China, taste like soy sauce here.
I think my mom figured it out cause the Sapporo bottle said it was made in Ontario and the Asahi bottle said it was made in Italy.
I think I'm going to hit Art History again tomorrow after work. Get a 4 pack of Good Morning Munich and Good Night Vienna. If you have not been there yet it is worth it.
I wouldn't go with Tsingtao being delicious in China, but it is better there. Additionally, it's really effective when eating Szechuan, which everyone MUST do when in Chengdu or nearby.
Everything tastes better close to its home. Guinness being another example of, unfortunately, this being true. And it's not just beers. Wouldn't get a cheesesteak here and never did deep dish in Philly. Another reason we travel.
Effective? Like it i beg to differ. I've had good Philly cheesestake at most places that offer Italian beef/gyros. I don't think I'd go to Philadelphia for the soul purpose of getting one. Well I'm hungry
I dunno... I've done visits in Philly where I've eaten nothing but cheesesteak for the duration, and had some good and bad. Last time I went in 2019 I had a streak of about 8 cheesesteaks in a row with a different protein, just because I could (the Beyond Cheesesteak at Wells Fargo was surprisingly great!)(Personally love Carmen's at Reading Terminal market). I've honestly had some great cheesesteaks here that were better than some of them in Philly. I'm not ordering the cheesesteak here from one of those 'we serve everything' type joints or anything, but if it's place that prioritizes cheesesteaks or serves them exclusively you can get some really good ones. Of course, I wouldn't get deep dish in Philly, but I mean, I wouldn't get deep dish anywhere outside of Chicago.
I lived in Philly for six years and you're absolutely right about how much cheesesteaks vary, but I had enough of 'em to realize one thing. The meat's the easy part. What you don't get here is the Amaroso roll. Like you have a tough subbing a Gonella or Turan roll for an Italian Beef and having it really be right, just any roll ain't doin' it for a proper steak. When I go back, I get a Chubby's or when back in my old South Philly neighborhood, Pat's (Geno's is owned and operated by scumbags). Oh wait, yeah, I stopped eating critter since my last visit. A ton of other tasty stuff at the market.
