Sorry @sportscrazed2. WATCH NOW: 3 Floyds permanently closing Munster brewpub https://www.nwitimes.com/business/l...ee5a83040d.amp.html?__twitter_impression=true
That's a bummer but I honestly didn't go very often. I prefer this place https://www.windmillbrew.com/. It's a small taproom with no music playing most of the time and a older cat that that basically lives there they name alot of beers after. They make quite different beers than floyd's. Plus you can't walk into floyd's with Harold's Chicken. And afterwards it's walking distance from Illinois if you catch my drift and these woods are nice to walk in after right behind the brewery. Hell I think I've been there more times since they've closed just to grab something and go even then I'll usually drive a bit further to Lansing where they'll have it cold guaranteed for basically the same price somehow. Man is it spring yet?
I went to Three Floyd's Brewpub once like ten years ago and they were such assholes that I never considered going back
They weren't assholes to me they just seemed like they will take your order and leave you alone. A couple times I went I requested masters of reality and reign in blood and they put them on vinyl for me after smoking a joint across the street by the golf course. Matter of fact I'm gonna miss that place and should have went alot more. Watched the one USOC final we were in there as well. They weren't' assholes they just seemed like they didn't want to be there which I can relate too. As far as what I'm drinking now is concerned the knews this morning said people are drinking more during quarantine like it's a shocker. Maybe if you didn't live in a dystopian shithole of a country with nothing better to do people would drink less. All things considered I think I'm doing a pretty decent job of not drinking myself to death. Probably cause I'd fail and regret it. Cheers.
@xtomx can someone live in Miller Beach and take the train to Hyde Park everyday, open a dispensary, then come back and use the profits to open a dive bar/coffee shop? Cause I know a place that sells $3 six packs of PBR i could sell to hipsters for $3 each
Frankly, the problem with your idea is that the money one receives from a dispensary can not be deposited through normal channels, as (from a federal perspective) it is considered "drug money." So f'n stupid, but banks and credit card companies have shied away from the business. It would be difficult to get the business off of the ground Also are there a lot of hipsters in Miller Beach?
******** they weren't open. Did you know Thorton has a distillery? I think I might go and walk along the quarry edge
If you were going to a distillery and then walk along a quarry edge, it is probably a good thing the distillery was closed.
It was a joke. I took the scenic route home from Orland Park. Didn't know there was a distillery there or another side of the Quarry not facing the toll way
Somebody gave me some coffee from door county. I feel like I could have used this week more productively.
Stuck in a Super 8 motel in Portage, WI. We went to Chicago to pick up our stuff in storage. Towing a 5x9 foot Uhaul. About 100 miles from home and we hit a fast moving snow storm, whiteout conditions. Fun in Northern Wisconsin! If it had been just the car, I might have risked it (hopefully not. At my age and point in life, risks like that are not needed), but with the trailer, no way in hell would we push through. Took the first exit off of I-39 and stopped. Dog friendly, clean hotel, bunch of fast food within walking distant (even in a snow storm) and a Kwik Mart with a beer cave. Enjoying a Badger Club Amber and watching the last Harry Potter movie (nothing else on). My partner is continuing her knitting from the car and the dog is thrilled to have one more day of "vacation" (she spent Christmas with her doggie bff). All in all, being safe is better than being foolish.
I made that type of stop many years ago returning to Springfield from the Chicago area at the holidays. As we hit central Illinois, a snow & ice storm hit. As we approached Bloomington/Normal, began to see many cars & trucks off the road. Pulled off the interstate, got a hotel room in Bloomington (normally just an hour away from home at the time in Springfield) and lived to get home and tell the tale the next day. Sometimes, it just makes sense.
Reminds me of my unscheduled stop in beautiful Coloma, WI. In the 2 days I was stuck there, I ate at every restaurant in town and drank at every bar. Hiked their entire park district trail. I even got to ride in an Amish wagon. Would get stuck again.
