I have had a few "Deth" from Revolution (I think I still have a Deth Star around), but never that one. Not a fan of fruit beer, but cherries and imperial stout sound like a match made in deliciousness.
The coffee one is really good too. Cherry in imperial stout is really good. In fact wisconsin makes a good one that comes in 4 packs that's usually priced well https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/652/35984/
Central Waters is about 45 minutes from me (maybe an hour), although I have not made to their brewery (damned pandemic). Their Mudpuppy Porter is good. I will keep an eye out for their cherry imperial. Thanks
Have been working my way through these beauties over the past couple days. Started with regular (still delicious), had the Caramella Wheatwine last night (also delicious in a liquid dessert kind of way), and going to give the Kentucky Fog one (a barrel-aged stout take on London Fog tea because why not?) in a little while. With how Rodgers is destroying my fantasy team right now, may end up busting another open before the night's over....
Work has a couple cases of the original. I passed it up today. Should I grab one tomorrow? I'd rather find the coffee tbh.
Made a trip to Microcenter in Westomont this morning figured I'd stop at Resurrection cemetery and visit my grandparents. Grand Dukes is gone but, at least there's a Lithuanian deli at 99th and Roberts. Sold out of bacon buns. Had a probiotic ice cream to be healthy. Now a drink.
If you get a store discount I'd say at less grab a few to drink now and a couple to stellar away, but otherwise, yeah, it's almost a dollar an ounce for the OG and even more expensive for the others- they're all great, but personally once I have a couple of those I go back to the Revolution Deep Wood Series. That was one of the first craft beers I ever had and it was my favorite for a long time. I had a vertical of their barrel-aged version of this (Backwoods Bastard) going back to 2012. Then all of the stuff came out about Founder's being a racist organization and it just ruined it for me- haven't spent on dime on any of their brew since 2018 or so, I believe. It's a really, really great beer and aside from Oskar Brewing's Old Chub I haven't found anything quite like it for the style.
I’m no hero myself- I certainly didn’t just pitch my collection of vintage Backwoods Bastards in the trash after I found out. The money was already spent, after all.
if you get two beers for the rest of your life, what are you picking? I think I'm doing Bell's Two Hearted and Old Style
I burnt out on Two Hearted as it is delicious. I’d have to go with two session beers. Old Style is a good choice but I’d take High Life. For the second? Guinness.
Pseudo Sue and Alpha Klaus. A good porter and a good pale ale. Open to more suggestions on less hoppy porters. ********
Well already have a headache possibly from listening to Slayer while driving to the binnys in mokena. Why didn't I just go straight to floyd's? Nap time
Metropolitan’s Dynamo Copper Lager for my everyday drinker and Revolution’s Deth’s Tar for my special occasion / blackout drunk sipper. Two favorite and objectively best local breweries in Chicago represented and two damn delicious beers.
