If the Olympics do wind up postponed a month or two--
And Alex is unquestionably ready and fit--
Should she be eligible for inclusion?

That is, should there be an effort to play it out as if the delay never happened, or should the world just accept that 'what could have happened, did." I mean, perish forbid, but somebody's star might be a casualty, after all...

I don’t believe the roster is fixed yet. If she can beat out a player with her level of fitness after giving birth, why not? You put the best team on the field.

besides, somebody else may not be fit to play by then, the way things are going.

I think the delay will be longer than that. Most of the qualifying outside of Women's soccer is not finished yet and won't be any time soon.

Not sure what you mean? Last time I checked the roster hasn't been submitted to the IOC. If she can play her way back onto the roster and fits into Vlatko's system, then I'm sure she will be there. With this news her chances are looking a lot better, but I would always hope all players are chosen on merit and current form. Seems like that goes without saying.

Not surprising as it is their only sane course of action at this time. Given the current global uncertainty and the unlikely possibility of the discovery of a magic vaccine, a short (months) postponement doesn’t appear to be a possibility. + You can’t have a Summer Olympics during the Winter…can you? However, I am not an expert on the Seasons and general Climate of Japan despite my extensive Meteorological background.

They need to communicate an answer to the athletes soon.
And I wish Alexandra The Great would hurry up and have Catherine The Great…..I need some good news about now.

The postponement is likely to summer 2021.

Well it might not change soccer too much but, if the pools are outdoors, swimming and diving and water polo could be changed rather dramatically.
