This if from the latest Marc Connolly piece on MLSnet.com http://www.mlsnet.com/MLS/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20040630&content_id=6849&vkey=news_mls&fext=.jsp Four Quick Ones Questions for San Jose midfielder Ronnie Ekelund Smartest advice from a coach you ever received: "Let the ball do the work, because it never gets tired." Most underrated player on your team: Eddie Robinson Most underrated player in MLS that's not on your team: Freddy Adu Best nickname on your team: "Shampoo" -- Arturo Alvarez. He scored a goal with his head against Dallas last year, and that had never been seen before. Ronnie Ekelund ain't no sluch either.
sluch? ewwwww. I had one of those in the fourth grade, but the doctor gave me some antibiotics and cleared it right up.
There is no way Freddy Adu can possibly be underrated. I was on a tour in Spain and our tour guide started asking me about Freddy Adu. Inter Milan offered him a contract when he was 14. MLS is paying him more than any of their seasoned veterans. He has a million dollar endorsment deal. But yet, he doesn't even start. How can he possibly be underrated?
Well lets hope Freddy keeps on track, and doesn't go down Ronnie's route. Ronnie peaked while still a teenager. He could - and should have gone on to do much more after joining Barca so young. I think he was even the youngest ever player to play in the Danish League. I did a profile for Ronnie on the site i work on... Unfulfilled potential.... Ronnie - teenage prodigy to normality...
\ People...People...People...Freddy Adu does not have a talent problem, his problem is his little Bi#ch attitude problem he need to realize that while he get used to MLS play he need to smile be nice and give authograp, he need to be patient his time will come, meanwhile smile, be nice, be tidy....
hey i think freddy's talented -- for his age. but he is acting really imature if he thinks he should be starting instead of esky or moreno. he just needs to chill for a while and do his best with the playing time he does get. like i said, he's talented for his age, but not good enought to be starting yet. hahaha
Adu's talented for a 25 year old. He's got as much talent as just about everyone disregarding age. What he doesn't have is the work ethic (on the field), positioning, and general soccer smarts.
Man, thank goodness it's Peter Nowak and not BigSoccer posters coaching this prodigy. He'd be ruined by some of you yahoos.
