According to one site, Richie Partrdige will be going on loan to Coventry, having signed a new 2-year deal at Liverpool. Obviously this goes back to when McAllister was at Anfield. Can't find details of how long the loan is for though... Carr is not likely to be back playing before the first weekend in October, which is 10 days shy of the Swiss game. Not much margin for error there and he has a woeful history of breaking down... FAI will have to cough up £100,000 for Duffer's injury. This paltry sum is what he earns in three weeks for the Rovers... There is also a question-mark over whether he'll also be back fit in time for Ireland... With Kennedy still out for at least a month and no news on the Millwall site about Steven Reid, if for no other reason, Kevin Kilbane is likely to retain his place on the left of midfield by default. An injury to him might bring Thomas Butler into play...
The FAI don't have to pay Blackburn a penny. Injuries such as Duff's which keep him out of club action are covered by the FAI's mandatory insurance policy.
Good news re Partridge, but Butler is likely to find himself in the Swiss squad, though Kilbane will retain his starting place if Duff, Kennedy and Reid are all out.
Make money on Richie! Strewth, it just struck me now. Find out when he's making his debut and then get down to the bookies and look for odds on him walking on his debut for clouting someone. These things apparently happen in threes!
Blast. Partridge came on for Coventry and completed the game. A fine run of Irish lads throwing their fists about on loan debuts comes to an end!
