I've been watching some lower league football from england from torrents and it seems that although the players don't have the skill or intensity that the MLS players have, they have Soooooo much more positional and tactical awareness: making runs, moving into space, pulling defenses open by splitting man coverage etc.

Does it strike anyone else that the issues of individual skill that Toronto seems to be having the most problem addressing are those of the players' ability to read and recognize what's going on on the pitch and to try runs, be daring, try to set up set plays etc.?

So much of why we're being beaten seems to rest in teams using common tactics to exploit our defense, like pulling the defense over to one side, then switching to the incoming fullback on the opposite and opening up the box.

I wonder how Mo and Bob Gansler are trying to address this; I noticed in the draw with LA, when they played quite well, that they were switching field themselves more often. But there seems so little interest in holding up the ball and having players move into space. It's a major contributor to our shooting, as the guys almost never seem to have a clean shot at it.

Absolutely. At least twice against D.C., Dichio headed the ball on to where Samuels should have been. Both would have been glorious chances. This also applies defensively - most goals against TFC this season have been due to defensive lapses rather than offensive brilliance.

I don't know why the team hasn't got it yet - despite the revolving door of trades and injuries, all these guys have been playing footy for a long time.

Exactly, more then half the time when there is a goal kick or something of that nature Dichio wins the ball and heads it towards the goal behind him. When we had cunningham he was right there and always made a good chance out of it. Samuel just stands there and watches.

Samuel doesn't even watch, he's too busy calling the concessions guy in the stands, asking if they have anymore french fry sandwiches...
