Attended my first in-person professional indoor soccer match in over seven years on Saturday night in Tacoma.

    Highlights of my night:

    - Showare Center arena is a very modern but smallish arena. Pretty much perfect for today's version of professional indoor soccer. Free parking at the arena is a plus. Good walk up crowd as the ticket purchase line was three times longer than the entry line at an hour before kickoff. Over 3,600 in attendance. Loved the supporters group at the one end with their drum, flags and chants, when not over-ruled by the arena music.

    - Wore my Blast t-shirt. Was approached by a Sockers' fan who was (good-naturally, I assume) giving me a hard time for supporting the Stars and telling me how much "all the MASL owners" hate Ed Hale and his new league was going to fail. First thing I did when I entered the arena was buy myself a Tacoma Stars t-shirt to show some home team support.

    - Tacoma simply out-hustled San Diego for most of the night. When the Stars stopped pressuring is when the Sockers started their come-back.

-In-game and halftime entertainment was a little corny but not over the top. Mascots dancing, contestant kicking soccer balls for prizes, etc. Pre-game video interview with Stars head coach was well done and nicely set the tone for the importance of this game.

    - Game winning goal from the Stars came with 1.9 seconds remaining in the fourth. Hard strike from the far right hand side from Ramos. Crowd went wild. The four Sockers fans that I saw stood in disbelief (a beautiful sight).

Overall, glad I made the effort to watch this very entertaining soccer match. If I lived within an hour or so of Tacoma, I would certainly get season tickets.

Love the recap. Thanks. I'm gonna try and watch it later.

Speaking of the Stars, should be a real battle tonight when the Stars play the Fury for third place and the final playoff spot!
