True, but the other suspect (the Soviet Union) is long gone and China is a particular form of capitalism (state capitalism).

I'm just asking that we get away from calling each other childish names like "moran" and asshole, jerk and douchebag, but I can see that my request is falling on deaf ears, sadly for everyone.

There was this socialist YouTuber that did try to come up with a plan on how could the USA turn into a socialist country, he debated his position and while I think his ideas were shit and unrealistic, I do give him credit for at least trying to figure out how to go from theory to practice.

    Props to Econoboi.

Deal with the argument and not the poster. And if you can't deal with the argument, don't respond. This thread exists so this argument doesn't pollute other threads.

IIRC, there were recently declassified documents showing the Soviet Union's involvement in the Love Canal as well as the Cuyahoga River fire of 1952.

I don’t think the chemical company that poisoned Love Canal needed any help from the KGB.

My point is that capitalism isn’t the only reason for environmental problems.

Given the results tonight thus far I am going to finally go to bed and will wake up assuming Mamdani ekes out a majority of the vote. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. If I'm right, OP deletes his account.

    America, maybe. New York, definitely.

75 years behind Milwaukee, but socialists will take their wins where they can get them. :D

In a sense you could argue Milwaukee was even further ahead. Zeidler was influenced by the writings of Eugene V Debs. When Debs was in jail for his actions in the Pullman Strike, he was visited by Victor Berger, a socialist/politician/journalist and founding member of the Democratic Socialist Party. Berger gave him a copy of Das Kapital and Debs began his conversion into a Socialist. So without Debs, no Zeidler.

Fun Fact: what do Eugene V Debs and Victor Berger have in common?

Both of them had Supreme Court Cases. Remember how I keep talking about how Capitalism uses violence to halt the spread of Socialism? Well they do it domestically as well!!

Mamdani started out his speech quoting Debs last night.

To anyone who says America isn't ready for socialism: Mamdani took 78 percent of the vote aged 18-29. He took 66 percent of the vote from 30-44.

Quakes how do you take your crow? Original?............Or extra crispy?

Also further proof that Capitalism relies on an uneducated populace? Cuomo polled better on every educational category until we got to those with a Bachelors degree. Mamdani pulled plus 20 for people with a Bachelors or higher.

I am well aware of national political contingencies and cultures, but a clear Right/Left distinction is what is best in a democracy. So-called left-wing politicians who don't admit to being left-wing generally claim to govern from the center-left, but always end up leaning to the right and pushing the right to the far right. This is true on both sides of the Atlantic. Give me a good old-fashioned right/left alternation, whatever each country calls it.

Trump bleated "vote this way" and the sheep followed. Sliwa underperformed his polling by about the same margin Cuomo overperformed, 5 percentage points. Had Sliwa gotten 11/12 percent, it would have been at Cuomo's expense and given us the 15-point margin most pollsters anticipated.

Still, Mamdani broke 50 percent in the same wave that gave us huge wins for Sherrill and Spanberger.

The only thing that links them all is thermostatic public opinion. People hate Donald Trump and want to make him go away.

Any other "take" on last night is dumb and you should publicly belittle and mock the take-maker.
