To those fluent in French or residing in that country - keep checking the French football press because the rumors of the loan should appear there first and foremost.

If Clint can do it, I don't see why Charlie couldn't.

I think Gillot should just put Charlie on the bench for a game and use him as a late sub. Who knows? He will either embarrass himself or be given a massive boost of confidence just by being on the field.

I'm sure he's mentally kind of stagnant just playing in the reserves. Everyone knows that the mental aspect of the game is huge. Maybe playing a league match will trigger something within him.

If EJ can earn late subs for Fulham, why can't CD9 earn them at Sochaux?

Its in English. Ligue 1 has an english version of their site with identical content.

Just reading the interview, it looks like there might be a chance of him making the team this weekend. The fact that the Ligue 1 site even mentioned it as a possibility has got my hopes up.

I think you misunderstood the request.

Whoa whoa whoa, his brother is better than him? Can his brother score in Azteca and dance the Carlton dance on their corner flag anytime I want on youtube?

    Didn't think so.

Well, Charlie has proven to be a little overly optimistic at times. :D

But also remember that Charlie was going nowhere fast at Hammarby until he had a heart to heart with his coach. It's possible his brother is/has been relying on his speed to get him by much like Charlie had early on.

I kind of wonder if Chuck would be a good candidate for camp cupcake. that'd be more meaningful and competitive than the reserves, it'd give him a taste of US Soccer again, give Bradley a chance to check up on him ahead of a big year, and hopefully light up his confidence again.

That would be interesting. I really thought that Charlie was a candidate for the South Africa match-- relatively easy travel (time zone wise), meaningless game, experimental roster, only needed to beat out Robbie Findley. There's no indication why Bob didn't take Charlie, so we don't know if he doesn't think CD9 is ready or if he was put off by Sochaux.

For how overly optimistic he was pre-WC and how much wishful thinking was going on, it would've made sense for Bradley to tell him to "keep up the good work, but let's wait until you're getting any first team minutes before we start discussing a possible call-up."

Thanks for that....it sounds as if he's ready!

What Charlie needs is as much playing time as possible. I'm hoping he gets loaned out so he is able to get back to peak form ASAP.

I'll be honest, I was a bit hesitant to believe the news until I read the quote from Sochaux....

I believe he said he was at 90% physically. Here's hoping more meaningful 1st-team games gets him back to 100%. Mentally and Physically.

Let my hopes get the best of my better judgement where the WC roster was concerned. I know Charlie never aimed to deceive anyone with his personal assessments, but I now wait for someone within the club to confirm Charlie's opinions before I pay much attention. ......at least until I can see him play for myself.

I hope that day comes soon.
