Thats one of the first football articles that I've read that is bang on. Bring back the terraces, stop overzealous stewarding, group together the lads and lasses who want to sing, they're still there, as the away support for clubs shows.

Worrying what I have noticed though is that some of the massive clubs vocal away following has started to go down the drain. Chelsea are the best example, they used to be really vocal in the 90's, but nowdays you get one rendition of 'One man went to mow'.

With my experiences with Man City home and away, we raise our voices for the big games, like Chelsea at home a few weeks ago, but we're consistantly out of our seats and chanting away, like at Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Man United which I have attended. We're all up for it then, so its frustrating that we cant do that at home.

If we cant get rid of seating, at least make one stand unreserved seating, so we can get groups of lads together again.

    'Oh when the blues
    Go marching on
    Oh when the blues
    Go marching on
Oh I want to be in that number, when the blues go marching on'

Sunderland Vs Leeds United – Sunday 26th December 2004

The Club’s ticket allocation for the above fixture has been reduced from 4000 to 1500 tickets. Sunderland Football Club have taken this action as a direct result of the persistent standing undertaken by our supporters at away grounds. This information has come from statistics provided by the FA Premier League/Football League and also observations from the clubs that we have already visited this season.

The decision has been made by the certifying authority (Council) for Sunderland Football Club on the basis outlined above and as a Club we have no power or ability to have the decision to reduce the ticket allocation reversed.

Thats just an excuse for Sunderland to allow less Leeds fan into the Stadium of Sh1te! Thats so annoying! As if playing away wasn't hard enough, they now limit the number of oppo fans into the ground.

All the clubs in the CCC love us. Every single ground we have been to has had the highest attendance of the season, other than Brighton, who Wolves managed to fit 88 more people into the ground than we did.

It means 2,500 more empty seats, as the Mackems won't be able to fill them.

Actually, interesting seeing Bayern's and Borussia's grounds mentioned. I've only been to Bayern's ground out of the two and they basically have barriers for every standing row - there are optional fold-away seats as well, beer brought around and the fittest police women in the world. I am sure all that helps when it comes to safety. :)
XabiAlonso here used to stand on Wetsfalenstadion's Sudtribune - apparently they pack in 20-25 thousand and again the construction is such that there are no sefety concerns.
It is soooooo annoying when you get overzealous stewards sitting you down at away grounds - grrrr...

Shooting themselves in the foot somewhat. That will be a few thousand quid in revenue lost.

Yup, never felt there was a problem on the Südtribune at the Westfalenstadion.

There will be terraced areas in the new AllianzArena as well.

We had the same in Division 3, I remember Macclesfield away, too many people wanted in and tried bunking into the ground, Macclesfield ffs.

God we were crap back then. Losing to York City fs.
