Hey now. Scott's opinion is not necessarily representative of all soccer fans in the Seattle area. But, I can think of 40,000 reasons why USSF will think about moving the game to Seattle. Not that they actually will do so.
That's not fair. Mexicans could easily sell out the stadium. Seattle alone has more than that many Mexicans. Don't think Mexicans would only buy 40,000 tickets...
And Seattle doesn't have a single US soccer fan? LOL. This fear that keeps cropping up is easily the stupidest of fears not to move it out Columbus. It's not like there isn't a large population of Mexicans within a few hours drive of Columbus. That being said, I'm certainly only advocating that they move it out of Columbus.
Yes, but they don't get many tickets. Look, @scott47a, I wasn't trying to threadjack. I just found it a little surprising that you tried to conflate "caring more about the national team than the local one" with "showing up en masse for a U.S. Soccer event that you might only get to see in your hometown/region once every four years if you're lucky." If you can't understand why there might be a difference there, then I don't know if there are enough hours in the day for me to explain it to you.
Well, I think one thing is obvious. The Super Bowl needs to move to May. Just think what the ratings would be if it was in May instead of February! And with a winter and spring break, that would also allow the players to heal so that when I go to a game, all of the star players are there and I don't have to watch any backups.
Postponements are a way of life and business, as needed, for outdoor sports league. Everyone will be fine.
I think it's obvious that Colorado wouldn't have scheduled a game for this weekend if the calendar was flipped. They would have scheduled it for last Sunday at 3PM instead, obviously.
Chances are rising that tomorrow's indoor game in Montreal will be postponed to Sunday. Too much snow on the roof.
Summer's not so great. It's often too hot and humid. And MLS has decided to take off two weeks in June anyway (to get out of the way of part of FIFA's long international call-up period). I think there are a few week in April/May and a few in Sept/Oct in which MLS should really try to schedule all of their games.
