Vancouver: $300 mil renovation is underway
Portland: the final vote will take place in 8 days (July 23). It will pass easily. $31 million to upgrade the existing PGE Park to MLS standard. The renovation will start late this year and next year and be in time to open for MLS in 2011.

No words yet on a 'done deal' for Houston and San Jose.

I too am not impressed with MLS stadia (Red Bull Park might change my opinion).

Nevertheless, I can say that I do enjoy viewing stadium Pron from any country.

That said, I do not feel that there is a competition between the FMF and MLS, in regards to futbol stadiums as some would like to believe.

Upon seeing this thread, I've always thought the title should have read:

    Futbol-Soccer stadiums in North America.

I doubt these 'way better' high school stadiums cost more than $100 mil. Most MLS stadiums cost at least that much.

p.s. If you are willing to back it up, post some pictures of these so called 'way better' HS stadiums and we will be the judge.

    Try the veal?

I'm originally from Texas and while they do have some very nice stadiums by high school standards they don't come close to comparing to the MLS stadiums designs, site lines, and amenities; especially in San Antonio... I laughed out loud when I read that. The only stadium worth a crap in that town for HS's is the one Marshall plays in. Schools like Holmes, Edison, Taft, etc. play in ****holes... but sort of fitting considering that is the brand of football/Gridiron played in the city.

I agree san antonio football is shit but they have really nice stadiums now in the northside (wonder why lol). And yes they do look similar to MLS stadiums (minus the nfl stadiums).

San Antonio doesnt have nice HS stadiums...

i cant tell you right now the southlake carroll stadium in north texas is better than columbus crew stadium by far..and wizards stadium..

its got everything a pro football player needs to practice and everything...

Dallas Cowboys do off season work there every so often..

I'm curious, have you been to Crew Stadium or the Wizards' stadium?

And did the Cowboys provide any money to that school district? I'd imagine that they did, so it's hard to call it just a high school stadium if it's got backing from an NFL team.

    Edit:
I just looked it up. That's where Dallas Burn played in 2003. In fact, they could only seat 8000 prior to that. Thank the MLS for it's expanded capacity of 11k. It's not real grass either. That stadium is much smaller than Crew Stadium, so it's not much good being "better" if you can only fit half the people in it.

I been to the wizards stadium and it was bad...

and looking at the crew's stadium it doesnt look all that good either

seating is not what im talking about

SLC's stadium has a lot of ammeneties and locker rooms are amazing top of the line training grounds are amazing as well

Cowboys didnt provide money for it i mean they may pay up when they use their facilities

I was able to go in and look at all their facilities...my roomate is cousins with Chase Daniel who is SLC alumni...
