A member of the would-be ownership group from last year’s failed bid held a press conference Tuesday morning to announce a new proposal to bring the MLS to St. Louis. Jim Kavanaugh, co-founder and CEO of World Wide Technology, and members of the Taylor family met at Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club to make the announcement.
According to the St. Louis Business Journal (no link because you have to have a subscription), it will be "overwhelmingly private financed" and the "stadium whose design is not complete is now planned for the same site."

Who really cares? Everyone is expecting an announcement on a team by late April. Get a team and then I’ll care about stadium plans. Without a team announcement, stadium plans are useless
No, not at all. Though I do get where you are coming from. Even with good owners, no stadium plan will mean no team (unless you are NY or Miami). I think Sac will be #28. But #29 will be announced before the end of the year. And STL will be it.
I agree in principal, but fans like stadium renderings, and it gives the ownership group more publicity for local and national media attention. Plus there may be even more importance to revealing stadium plans to a wide audience if the plans include confirmation of sponsorship agreements.
Every seat of our proposed new stadium will be within 120 feet of the pitch, one of the very best views in soccer. The closest seats sit just 20 feet from the touchline. Seating capacity would be approximately 22,500 to 25,500. #MLS4THELOU #MLS
While an ideal @MLS soccer stadium, our open-air venue could also be used for concerts, high school and collegiate sporting events and tournaments, soccer camps, family shows and more. Beyond #MLS games, what are you most excited to experience here? #MLS4THELOU
If awarded a team, our proposed stadium will host approximately 17-20 regular season @MLS home games and 3 exhibition games. Who’s ready NOW?! #MLS4THELOU #STL

Sorry to revive this thread but I didn't want to start another one and couldn't find anything online... What will happen with the World Wide Technology / St. Louis Soccer Park? Will the MLS expansion team team purchase or even utilize it? Just curious....
Not sure of plans for STL FC, but the soccer park is also used by the academy teams, and St. Louis Scott Gallagher. I'm sure it will still be used by them for the near future. Now if STL MLS builds a new training complex somewhere else in the area?? Maybe SportBilly or I AM SPARTACUS have heard more?
Is the expansion team going to buy or work with St. Louis Scott Gallagher Academy? I'm sure they will have to work with them eventually as many players come from that club and have for as long as I remember.
Jim kavanaugh, one of the minority partners, is part (all?) of the ownership of St Louis FC, Soccer Park, and Scott-Gallagher.

No excited to see those blue seats. On a day like today (and it’s only early June), they are going to be hot AF.
Won't be any worse than the Red seats at Busch, or the dark green seats at the Muny. Probably the bigger issue will be lack of breeze, keep in mind the field is 30-40 ft below street level.
They say taking yourself out of your comfort zone is the best way to grow… so here we go! I’m excited to announce that I’ll be moving to St. Louis to start as Assistant Director of Grounds for @stlCITYsc! I am overly excited to become a @StLouligans #OurCITYOurSpirit
