That's probably for the best, because your heart speaks louder than your brain on this one.

It's for cfb royalty, not everybody.

He knows how to use them?

Joe Namath played from 1965 to 1977 during his career with the Los Angeles Rams and New York Jets. Namath threw for 27,663 yards in his career, completing 1,886 of 3,762 passes with 173 touchdowns and 220 interceptions. He also ran for 140 yards in 71 attempts with 7 rushing touchdowns.

Alabama has three quarterbacks who have won a Super Bowl. I don’t think any school can match that.

I think Maryland has three quarterbacks that have lost a superbowl, two of them multiple times.

Boomer Esiason lost in Super Bowl 23
Frank Reich lost three times with the Bills - SB25, 26, and 28
Neil O'Donnell lost with Pittsburg in SB30, and then lost AGAIN with Tennesee in SB34

    GO TERPS!

Tell us you don't know anything about college football without explicitly saying so.

    Reich carried a clipboard tho

Montana won 4 as did Bradshaw. This guy won 7:

Well, if you make it into a "champions" playoff there is a serious risk that smaller schools (compared to Alabama) would feature.

Obviously FSU is not a small school but doing the right thing and inviting them to the 4-team playoff would run a higher risk that a semifinal will be a blowout (due to their QB being injured). And thus, lower TV ratings.

It always comes down to money.

So they left an unbeaten team out of the playoffs because their quarterback got injured and they don't want to risk a blowout?

Actually it makes sense. Soccer should do that too. When Neymar got injured at the 2014 WC, they should have taken out Brazil. They should have never let them play Germany, it would have been better for everybody.

I think I'm of the opinion that FSU should just boycott the Orange Bowl.

Yep, that's the reason FSU was left out. And the QB got injured late in the season so nobody really knows how good or bad they are without their QB. As @Sounders78 pointed out, its all based on people's feelings.

    BYU can match that.

    Steve Young
    Jim McMahon
Marc Wilson (Wilson played as a substitute in one game and on the bench in the other)

They were a combined 7-0 in Super Bowls.

In the two games the QB missed, Florida State beat a SEC team and a team in the top 15 (the latter was with a 3rd string QB).

We can also thank them for Ty Detmer who won the Heisman over Rocket Ishmael and Zach Wilson.

I just want it on record that in this thread I have defended a university from Florida, a university started by Jerry Falwell and the LDS flagship university that was a hated rival of my alma mater. I really need to take a shower and scrub hard - I don't think the stench will wear off for a long time.

And for that one poster who thinks people on the left like me would happily persecute religious people on the right, it's time for you to rethink your views.

    Nooo!

If they want to prove that they are the champs, they better blow out whoever they put in front of them, and then, when a one-loss team ends up winning the title game, they’ll have the right to talk all the smack they want about being the true champions.

OTOH, USC did it in 2003 and the whole world of cfb credited them with it. That year's B(C)S champion LSU (another Nick Saban team, FWIW) has been largely forgotten.

Bottom line? It matters who you are and what you've done. Proper vetting is required for scarce playoff berths.

They wanted to take one college kid for some reason. I can't recall why.
