Does it "have to" be global to keep the US off their backs? (Think about how and WHY the Saudis buy so much American military hardware for just a second, then get back to us on that.)

Again, keep the world's hegemon off their backs, keep the terminally stoopid entertained, and help keep the world's biggest economy addicted to oil. THAT'S their entire reasoning behind sportswashing in the first place.

Does ANY of that require a "global" standing? Really?

As long as MLS has their stoopid rules that encourage rent-seeking behavior, while attenuating any sort of ambition in clubs, MLS is not a fit for the House of Saud.

Once again, they don't have any properties in La Liga, nor in Serie A, AFAIK. Why would they want to get involved in a venture (MLS) that discourages the use of the one resource they have, apart from oil? (Metric fvck tons of cash, that is.)

Yes because the 146 years of American soccer prior to MLS was such a resounding success.

Meh, if MLS is in such "dire straits," why do they expand to (seemingly) every fvkcing town larger than 500k in population?

More importantly, if you're the Saudis, why would you invest in a league that restricts your ability to spend?

What I hate is Adelson is massive Republican donor and was one of the first to get on the Trump train. He was responsible for the move of the Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and paid major money for. Massive settlement named after Trump. Classy new owners there Bazi! Not sure Luka is worth the kind of adoration.

Emmitt was able to convert goal line plays into touchdowns. Barry’s style made him very poor at that. Points win games.

Sanders was fun to watch, and great, but IMO he wasn’t historically elite because he had that big flaw in his game.

There was a season when Smith held out at the beginning, and the z cowboys started poorly. Then they paid him and he started playing and they started winning.

So we have a real life test for your theory, and it failed that test.

IIRC, Smith had a very solid offensive line to play behind, while Sanders did not, thus Sanders having to do much of the running on his own.

RUMOR: Chicago Blackhawks Corey Perry was caught sleeping with star teammate Connor Bedard’s mom on the teams annual “Mom’s Trip” November 9th-12th.

    ————————————————————————-
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE TEAM: After an internal investigation, the Chicago Blackhawks have determined that Corey Perry "engaged in conduct that is unacceptable."

The team has placed the veteran winger on unconditional waivers and plan to terminate his contract, effective immediately.

There's your big difference. with that shoddy line he had, Barry earned his yardage the only way he could have. Props to him for having the football IQ to take note of the guys coming at him from different angles and adjust accordingly. When north-south limited guys like Emmitt don't have superstar lines behind them, they tend to struggle.

Everyone back then would've loved Emmitt on their team. But Barry was a magician and ankle breaker. Played 10 yrs and put up 15K yards rushing and averaged 5 yards a carry on a shit team with a just OK line. Best pro RB I've seen aince I've been watching footbaw.

Year before he hung them up - 2,053 yards rushing, 6.1 yards per carry, 128 yards per game. Throw in 300 yards receiving. Teams he played on made the playoffs 5 times with 4 times being one and outs.

Well, that's the perspective needed on this. Emmitt Smith is one of the 10 greatest running backs ever, and he played on a really good team and as a result, has three rings.

Sanders, on the other hand, was magical. And easily the best RB since Jim Brown.

    Indeed.

Anyone who thinks Smith could carry Sanders' jock couldn't be bothered with, in any case.

But here: Passenger Emmitt Smith conveniently sat out 2 games in 1993.

In the 1st game, someone named, "Derrick Lassic" tiptoed his way to average 5 yards/carry behind an ALL TIME O Line. Which, again, proves that gaining 100 yards/game behind that line is pretty pedestrian.

In the 2nd game, Aikman threw two picks early, and so the clownboys had to abandon the run, as they fell behind in that game. Despite that, someone named, "Kevin Williams" tiptoed pretty much untouched for a 5 yard touchdown. Once again, behind an ALL TIME O Line.

So yeah, anyone who stans for a Smith is just outright wrong about him being able to do anything Sanders could do.

How is he still starting games (asking for Aaron Ramsdale)? It would be one thing if he had an amazing decade full of epic performances for Man Utd prior to this season. But to stink from the beginning of his United career and still be consistently starting 20 games into the season is mind boggling. How bad is their backup keeper?

Derrick Lassic had a total of 269 career yards. After his 2 seasons with the Cowboys, he was only a practice squad member for two seasons, and eventually went to Canada.
Kevin Williams was a wide receiver.
Smith has the most rushing yards of anybody in NFL history.

Surely, Smith's record was helped by being being a great offensive line. But just because he was behind a great offensive line does not mean he was "pedestrian." If it was that easy, Lassic would have had more than 269 yards.

As I'm thinking back, I think it was Smith who was talking about his routine to stay in shape, and said he would do 1000 sit ups a day. That is a player of both fitness and strength.

I still think Sanders was better, but Smith still was excellent.

Sorry, that was a Reddit shitpost that escaped into the wild and was relayed to the universe by Twitter "journalists"
Perry got drunk in Nashville and misbehaved with a staffer.
Given the Kyle Beach coverup, the new bosses moved quickly.

According to sources, an alcohol-fueled incident involving Perry was alleged to have occurred during an event that included corporate partners and team employees in attendance. It remains unclear what allegedly took place, who witnessed it, and who reported it to the team.

It occurred at least a week ago.
